One Response to In case you ever wanted to know how missiles change directions

Since I just received my 20 year pin with Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control I’ll just say this article is close enough for talking sake but much of the facts have been omitted otherwise major “tired head” would set in. One of the coolest missiles we make is listed here. The PAC-3 is actually a carbon body that flexes. There are shaped charges all the way around the forward body that blow as it approaches an incoming SCUD. This causes radical change in direction that no “fin” could produce. The missile is able to bend through space to achieve amazing angles off attack on an incoming missile.
