An Update From Eric

Subject: Quick Update from Kuwait

Friends and family-

Just a quick update to let you know that I am currently at Camp Buehring, Kuwait. Waaay out in the middle of nowhere. Nothing around on the horizon as far as the eye can see. We finally got here last night…or this morning at 1am. We started our journey from home at 2230 (10:30pm) hours Tuesday night. Finally started flying at 1330 (1:30pm) the next day. Got to Kuwait City at 1930 (7:30pm) last night (Wed) Kuwait time…and here we are.

In one word. HOT. 122 degrees hot. Heat like this does not treat big guys like me well. Just Praise God for air conditioning. I put my cot right underneath one last night.

Things here in Kuwait are necessary, but taxing. Its our final conditions check before crossing the border and into harm’s way. Everyone just wants to make sure they crossed all t’s and dotted all i’s. The down side, is I will be here quite a while, while everyone else goes up north. I’m kinda like the one last guy to help run things down here, making sure everyone gets everything done that they have to. I’d rather go up north, not to face danger…but truthfully because everything is actually a bit better. Plus I can start nesting myself wherever they finally decide to put me. All in all, everything is going ok. 120 degrees is livable and sweat is just another constant thing you learn to live with.

Keep us in your prayers. Keep the bulk of my unit in your prayers as they face their last week or so at home with families. Most of them will have to leave like this for the first time, as most are young new soldiers and their young wives and babies. Pray for their peace of mind and quality of time this last week of theirs. I’ll be seeing them soon.

God Bless,

Eric
