- It’s November. I guess this is where we overlook Thanksgiving and skip straight to Christmas.
- The NFL was a slightly better league when there were barefoot kickers and punters.
- DaughterGeeding was kind enough to call me after trick-or-treating with her brother. She didn’t intend on dressing up, she feels a little old for that, but at the last minute dressed up as Taylor Swift. I had the kids last year for Halloween, but not this year, and I expect it to be the last one in which they dress up. Last year, I invited their mother to be a part of trick-or-treating, but she never replied. I have this belief that no parent should be left out of a life event or tradition. I did send her a few photos of them dressed up in their gear last Halloween, and she seemed thankful, but she didn’t return the favor.
- I miss playing the random pickup basketball game in my driveway with the kids.
- BoyGeeding was rubbing the dog’s belly the other day and said, “Dad, I just want OtherDogGeedingII to know he’ll be remembered.”
- I think Governor Abbott has an unlimited campaign budget, at least from all the commercials I’ve seen or heard on the television and radio.

Bag of Randomness for Halloween 2022
- Life was better when the World Series didn’t fall into November. Heck, this World Series is tough to watch if you are a Dallas resident, as we typically don’t cheer on teams from Houston or Philadelphia.
- Graham Norton’s most recent show had both Taylor Swift and Bono on as guests. There’s no telling how many parents and their teenage girls bonded over this one episode. I know I did with my daughter. It was nice to hear the both were talking about a collaboration.
- GM unveils $30,000 electric SUV that will be one of the cheapest EVs available
- Julia Roberts says Martin Luther King Jr. paid the hospital bill for her birth. That’s cool and all, but I think that Coretta Scott King babysat Jonathan Lithgow cooler. To round things out, here’s Samuel L. Jackson writing about how he became an usher at MLK’s funeral.
- Nose Picking Could Increase Risk for Alzheimer’s and Dementia – The Chlamydia pneumoniae bacteria can travel directly from olfactory nerve in the nose and into the brain, forcing brain cells to deposit amyloid beta and inducing Alzheimer’s pathologies. Researchers say protecting the lining of the nose by not picking or plucking nasal hairs can help lower Alzheimer’s risks.
- New way to travel could be coming to DFW—Plano takes next step to consider possibilities
- Imagine this: a self-driving vehicle that runs on a track suspended overhead. Riders choose when to board and where they want to go, and their personal vehicle, or pod, will transport them directly, with no stops along the way. These JPods, as they are called, have been likened to a modern gondola system or a tram, but passengers won’t be sharing their ride with strangers (unless they want to). The pods hold four to six people. The vehicles run on electricity and are powered by solar. The tracks would be built within a roadway’s existing right of way, so there’s no extra land needed.

- In case you are wondering why Jake from The Ticket is taking some time off:
I’m going to miss some time. My son needs a surgery on his skull. And it isn’t like a minor thing, unfortunately. I’m going to be gone from the show, probably a lot. I’m not fishing for empathy. I’m just letting the people that make my job a reality know – that’s what it is. https://t.co/dI5pZvMd0m

- This was pretty impressive. At the start of this video, Micah Parsons is in the center of the screen. He almost sacks the quarterback, who is able to get the pass off. Parsons never quits hustling, and not only almost tackles the receiver, he recovers the fumble and takes it in for a touchdown. If I were a football coach, I’d show this to my players and prove to them why to always go full blast until the whistle blows.

- Twenty years ago yesterday, Emmitt Smith broke the all-time rushing record, moving my all-time favorite player to second place. Payton broke the record on October 7, 1984. My quick math tells me that Smith now has held the record longer than Payton owned it.
- Texas DPS Director Steve McCraw was forced to speak to the Uvalde shooting victims’ families yesterday during a meeting of the DPS Public Safety Commission. He wore a suit instead of what we normally see him, his DPS uniform. I wish I understood why he doesn’t wear his uniform when at these type of meetings.
- Beliefnet.com – Why Nobody Wants to Go to Church Anymore – According to the Hartford Institute of Religion Research, more than 40 percent of Americans “say” they go to church weekly.
- The Von Erich wrestling family is popular in our area. I was surprised to find out a movie is being made about them, and a very buff looking Zac Efron and Lily James are starring in it.
- Martina Navratilova lived in Fort Worth for about ten or eleven years? Something else that similarly surprised me was when I learn Cher used to live in Burleson. During her time in Burleson, Cher had a pet horny toad and accidently shot her aunt’s pet chicken. Her “Mammaw” was from Weatherford.
- I’m the one local who hasn’t eaten at Joe T. Garcia’s.
- People wonder why I fear swimming in the ocean.

- Sometime I can spell I word correctly, but no matter long I look at it, and even look to see if it’s spelled correctly, it just looks wrong.
- It was heartwarming watching BoyGeeding ask and receive help from DaughterGeeding a PowerPoint presentation that is due this week.
- WFAA had a story about the Baker Hotel and it’s ghosts. This line about the ghosts being friendly gave me a chuckle:
- “They’re just good people, now they’re good ghosts,” he said. “Why you gonna scare us off if we’re here fixing up your house?”
- The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special commercial had me literally laughing out loud, especially when you see who makes a special appearance. It helps if you are somewhat familiar with the history of Quill. It almost makes me want to look forward to the holidays, but I don’t see myself enjoying them any year soon.

- Virgin Australia has just launched the Middle Seat Lottery, a special raffle worth about AUD230,000 (or $145,000). And it’s only open to those who sit in the middle seat — voluntarily or involuntarily — during a flight. Each week, a different prize will be awarded to the winner of a lucky draw.
- “Now we’re giving our loyal guests the opportunity to win from a prize pool valued at over $230,000 for simply sitting in a middle seat.”

- ‘I chose God’: Hobby Lobby CEO says he’s giving away company
- In an opinion piece published Friday on Fox News, Green said his decision follows other company leaders like Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, who recently handed his ownership to a trust and environmental non-profit organization.
- Green explained he didn’t want to pass down ownership to his children and grandchildren because it “didn’t seem fair to me that I might change or even ruin the future of grandchildren who had not even been born yet.”

- Mark Cuban’s brother early voted with the former president who lives in the area.
Kind of a cool moment waiting in line to vote. George W Bush was a few people ahead of me. I was wearing my "Party Sober" T-shirt. He said, "Do you party sober" I said, "Yes I do Mr. President." He said, "So do I"
