Bag of Randomness

  • This is going to be one heck of a work week.
  • Last night I watched some of the original Frost/Nixon interview on PBS.   Yup, I’m one exciting guy.
  • I remember when the Cowboys use to have the Blue/White scrimmage and it was somewhat of a big deal.
  • When Dubya was president, a lot of people compared him to Hitler.  Now there is a website dedicated to comparing Obama to Hitler.
  • Thankfully I’m not a congressman, but if I were and had to hold a town hall meeting on health care, I would probably first start off with a presentation similar to this article and then field questions.
  • Back in college I read 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and the one habit that has always stuck out the most and the one I tried the best to adopt is – Seek first to understand, then be understood.
  • A lot of students in my class were uncomfortable reading that book because the author was Mormon.
  • Speaking of college, Cowboys backup QB Jon Kitna briefly talked about the college playoff game he played in against Hardin-Simmons.  I was actually at that game, and never did I imagine that anyone on that field would ever be in the NFL.  And that game was about ten years ago.  Not bad for a QB out of an NAIA school.
  • I think I have a bad habit of finishing other people’s sentences.
  • I think a lot of people knew Eunice Kennedy Shriver mostly as the sister of a president and the wife of an important husband.  Most people of my generation probably only knew her as the mother of Gov Schwarzenegger.  Other may know her as the driving force behind the Special Olympics.  Very few people knew that even as a member of a very liberal family, she was a hero of the  antiabortion movement.
  • That’s one heck of a shirt to wear during a bank robbery.
  • Mental Floss has some pictures of some interesting items that dogs have swallowed.  I found the Homer Simpson toy to be one of the more interesting ones.  Of course, that reminded me of the time OtherDogGeeding swallowed a sewing needle.
  • Speaking of dogs, this dog does not like Obama.
  • The faster you pedal, the faster the Internet speed.  YouTube
  • Grace.

We have a friend whose dog ate his mother’s pantyhose. Our friend said the worse part about the whole ordeal was sitting in a crowded vet's office with his dog with about 2 feet of the pantyhose hanging out its rear end.

I laugh till I cry every time I remember that story.

    – I had completely forgotten about the televised Cowboys scrimmages. It was a huge Power Down after about five minutes
    – I actually stumbled upon the Nixon/Frost interview last night. I didn't stay with it long, but they really did challenge each other and it was a heck of a lot more honest than anything you'll see today.

When you consider the size and scope of the Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver has done more for America than any of her siblings.

Her sister Rose Marie was 23 when she was incapacitated as a result of a botched lobotomy, forced on her to control mood swings and make her more 'manageable.'

Afterward, being considered a family disgrace, Rose was hidden away and remained hospitalized until her death 63 years later. The Special Olympics came about as a reflection of Eunice Kennedy Shriver's love for her sister and the wish to abolish stigma and lost opportunities associated with disability.

Also, Eunice is Governor Schwarzenegger's *mother-in-law,* not his mother.

Ahhhhhh … been there! My caffeine levels have reached dangerously low proportions while at the keyboard .. generally resulting in a face plant. At least YOU remained functional!
