Season 3 was when they took that mid-season hiatus. HUGE mistake at the time, but it looks like the rating have rebounded somewhat with the start of this season.

I think the “rebound” has something to do with LOST being one of the few programs NOT showing reruns.
The show obviously peaked between season 1 and season 2. It’s been all downhill from that point on.
I’m still angry with this show. I rented the first season on DVD and have never been so enthralled. Then Season 2 came around and it went down hill. My complaint: There’s too many damn people on that deserted island.
