In case you ever wondered

What happens when you dial 867-5309 for each area code in the U.S.?  Well, it cost this guy an extra $50 on his phone bill just to find out.

My area codes:

  • 214: Rings and rings and rings.
  • 469: Voicemail of Reno Marsh, a loan consultant.
  • 817: “The number is not in service on the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railway in Ft. Worth, Texas.”
  • 940: Voice mail. Name is a woman’s voice singing “eight six seven five three oh ni-i-ine.”
  • 972: “Thank you for calling Home Mortgage/Loans. We’re open from 8:30 to 5:30 Monday Through Friday.”

And if you were not aware, there is a Wikipedia entry on 867-8309.

I guess Tommy Tutone didn’t need to dial 10 digits back in the 80s or the song would have sounded completely different.
