I could tell WifeGeeding was a bit homesick, so my Father’s Day present to her and her dad was to have her and the kids make a surprise visit to the grandparents after lunch yesterday. I mean, after the kids giving me presents and eating lunch with me, there really wasn’t anything else Father’s Day related to do other than treat it as another day. And besides, statistically speaking, I have a lot more Father’s Day left than my father-in-law, so he should get to enjoy his grandkids while he still can.
The NFL Network focused on the 70’s recently and I caught the “10 Best Quarterbacks of the 70’s”. Roger Staubach ended up at number one, and they showed clips of something I totally forgot about . . . how the network use to start to roll credits on the screen even before the game was over and during a comeback.
Dirk may soon replace Staubach as my favorite Dallas athlete. Number three on the list, Tatu. Here’s an old clip of Tatu scoring a goal on a bicycle kick.
Two quotes have stuck with me while watching the new season of ‘Orange Is the New Black’:
It’s hate speech. It’s not meant to be accurate, it’s meant to be hurtful.
Hold on tightly, let go lightly.
When it comes to words like “is” and “the” I always forget which ones to capitalize when using them in a title.
This guy has a pig that is going through an identity crisis.
The URL www.relentless.com will take you to Amazon.com. That’s because at one time that was going to be the name of the company.
San Antonio, enjoy while you can. That was a pretty touching moment seeing Duncan hug his two kids tightly with a tear about to drop from his eye. It was also nice to see former players David Robinson, Avery Johnson, and Sean Elliott take part in the celevrations.
You’ve heard of a smart-watch, now there’s a smart-ring.
106.1 KISS FM – 27 facts you may not know about DFW – I didn’t know Woodrow Wilson High School is the only high school to produce two Heisman Trophy winners.
When it comes to cleaning the bathroom, I’m a big fan of using Comet.
I ordered a Ninja blender off of Woot the other day and it arrived at my doorstep yesterday. The first order of business was to make a mean milk shake for the family.
Our CEO is the type that says we can email her anytime about anything, so I decided to take her up on that offer. The next day she called my mobile phone and we had a friendly and constructive 45-minute conversation.
Speaking of work, I’ve been working some crazy hours this week, well into the double digits for a couple of days. Yesterday DaughterGeeding walked into my office and just sat down all nice and content. I asked what she was doing and she said that everyone’s been playing downstairs and I looked lonely, so she just wanted to be with me. Touching, but she may have been buttering me up for something.
DaughterGeeding was really wanting to get her ears pierced yesterday and I think WifeGeeding wanted me to be the one to say no. My solution, I showed her YouTube videos of girls her age getting their ears pierced, some crying and some that were tough, and she decided she wanted to wait a few years.
I want what Spurs fans have.
I wonder how much if any homeowners insurance is involved with that house on Lake Whitney that will be burned down this morning. Man, I’d love to set up a time-lapse recording of that event. UPDATE: WFAA is going to stream the burning at 10:00 AM and interviewed the homeowners who said insurance does not cover earth movement and they’ll be out over $700,000.
I think Jason Jones of ‘The Daily Show’ has lost some weight and he’s starting to look like he’s in good shape.
When I’m watching sports and I hear the commentators say “aggressive” the first thing that pops into my mind is the be aggressive cheer.
The City of Dallas really wants to win the Republican National Convention, that was one heck of a welcoming party they threw for the committee. I always thought conventions were better off in a swing state to help sway things. Local officials have been very gung-ho about this and keep touting that the convention was here when Reagan went on to win reelection. Heck, I’m surprised they didn’t display video and pictures of how a Democratic president was killed here to amp things up even more.
I was curious as to whatever happened to the female federal judge that swore in LBJ on Air Force One. Upon reading her Wikipedia entry, it turned out that she and no one else knew where to obtain the oath and she even volunteered to make one up. Shortly later she and the presidential staff found out it was actually in the Constitution.
It was pretty cool for Tesla to open up their patents, but it makes me think they are going to start focusing more on battery production than auto manufacturing.
Today is National Peanut Butter Day. Show me the Nutter Butters! Mmmmm, Nutter Butters.
Too bad casino gambling isn’t legal in Texas, casinos could take bets on when that Lake Whitney home will finally crash in the lake. I’m surprised the local news folks haven’t tracked down the owners for a camera interview. As a somewhat time-lapse photographer, I wish I had a camera set out outside that place. And wouldn’t it be cool if someone sent a small drone in that thing to get some footage of what it looks like on the inside?
DaughterGeeding had a total of four immunizations yesterday and she had a total of zero tears. #that’smygirl
Sometimes it’s really hard to work at home because the kids can be loud, but sometimes they say or do something that is so darn cute and heartwarming I’m thankful for the minor escape of work problems.
I wonder if I’ll watch more than five minutes of the World Cup.
I’m starting to notice that most of the news websites will autoplay a video along with their article, and that ticks me off.
It kind of feels like we now have a three party system in government. I still think the Republicans and the Tea Party should split. As much as I disagree with a lot of the policies of the Tea Party, I will certainly hand it to them for their passion and voter turnout, especially those “non-popular” elections.
I like the idea that a wealthy famous incumbent can be beat by an average citizen.
With all the school shootings and stabbings and everythings else, I’m thinking every parent would want their child to have a mobile phone. It seems like the only real solution to these school shootings are a long term approach on mental health.
I’ve never had a business card with my name on it.
For the fans of Vice, the news program, it might just be taking over Headline News. As a kid, I can’t tell you the number of times my father would watch HLN over and over, seeing how often the news can change in half an hour. If I recall correctly, the sports segment always came on at the 23-minute mark.
