Burn a thousand calories laying on the sofa

The BionicGym will stimulate your leg muscles with electrical impulses which will make your heart race and sweat.

Shivering is Nature’s way to burn calories (heat) without doing anything. BionicGym trains you by stimulating your muscles to ‘shiver’. Astonishingly effective – a completely new way to train. At high intensity you’re breathless, sweating and the heart races. Or at easy levels you can burn calories even working. Invented by a doctor (who trained for a marathon with it on his couch!) and researched over 16 years, it is fully tested and proven -even in Zero-G with the European Space Agency.

Here’s the Indiegogo campaign.

Bag of Randomness for Wednesday, January 4, 2017

  • I suppose some folks still complain about writing the previous year on a check at the start of a new year. For me, it’s making sure I type the correct year in my blog title.
  • Megyn Kelly is leaving FOX News for NBC News. I didn’t expect her to stay FOX, I had a feeling she wanted to sacrifice air time for family time, for better pay, and it leaves the audience wanting more. Not to mention, the extra time to air will allow for more quality programming. In a weird sort of way, it’s similar to what John Oliver did. However, I’m curious if NBC will cheapen it all by some sort of cameo on SNL.
  • I caught a Dale Hansen special in which he interviews George Foreman. Hanson is certainly full of himself, but he’s talented, and a good interviewer. Regarding his career as a boxer, Foreman is before my time, not counting his comeback. However, he said a few things in his interview which made me really admire the man.
    • Joe Frazier was the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in 1973 and was defending his title against number one ranked George Foreman. Hansen was rightfully making a big deal about how Foreman knocked down champion Joe Frazier six times in the fight, six times! But Foreman wanted to make the bigger point that Frazier got up six times.
    • Foreman spoke of his selfishness and regret of not taking the time to walk over to Muhammad Ali and shake his hand after losing a match to him.
    • Foreman often spoke about how fear motivated him, how it made him punch harder and be much more offensive than defensive. I usually think of fear as having more defensive attributes than offensive.
    • Hansen asked what he’d like on his tombstone. Foreman stated how he just wanted a flat grave marker, so anyone looking for it has to actually hunt and find it. And he said all he’d like for it to state is that he represented his mother well.
  • It appears the Science Channel is trying to reboot ‘Mythbusters’, but they will start out with a reality competition selecting the new hosts.
  • I’m surprised the new congress didn’t take into consideration, or take seriously, the perception of killing the ethics panel, especially doing it in a closed-door meeting.
  • We’ve been watching ‘Diff’rent Strokes’ episodes lately and one of my favorites was on last night. In “The Trial”, Arnold is accused of putting his black goldfish Abraham in the cooled hot tub and then put on trial by the Drummond family to prove his innocence. Willis wanted to prove the legal system, or the concept of innocent until proven guilty, was always fair. Arnold was found guilty by the judge (Mrs. Garrett) and then Willis revealed it was he who actually put Abraham in the hot tub to prove a point. The show ends with Mr. Drummond stating Willis withheld evidence and the system works pretty well when everyone is honest. For some reason, Drummond’s speech about the legal system always stuck with me. Simplistic, but true (I think).
  • This story is a little dated, but there are some changes to the North Carolina and South Carolina border in which 19 homes will be impacted.
    • Inglewood said the new line splits her master bedroom. Her kids will soon be sleeping in North Carolina, while other parts of the home are in South Carolina.
    • Another neighbor showed WBTV two new tax bills for 2017. Marvin Rutan will now pay a bill to the Palmetto State for taxes on his home, and the Tarheel State for taxes on his backyard.
  • Right after Christmas, one of the kids ran into the room to tell me Mineral Wells (my hometown) ran out of water. Since the town is named after a water supply and is known for its water, I had to process what my child was saying. It turns out there was a break in the main water line and the city went without water for two days and then was on a boil notice. I don’t really have a real connection to the town anymore, but my heart broke for all the restaurant owners and employees, who had the shut down because, hey, they ain’t got no water. For most, that’s their sole ability to earn money to provide for their family, and they don’t make much of it in the first place.

Happy 2017

  • There’s so much of me that just wishes I could fast forward to the last week of January, that’s when I feel like I’m back into the swing of things. All of college football is finished, the new president and congress are sworn in, and the city/neighbors/businesses should have all Christmas decorations taken down.
  • I did a lot with the family during the break. One of the highlights was visiting Reunion Tower. There’s a Wolf Gang Puck fine dining restaurant at the top, but if you go during “regular” hours there’s a more casual restaurant open. Once you order your food, you sit at a table and the floor rotates which allows you to sit in one spot and view all of Dallas. There’s also telescopes and interactive screens to toy around with. You have to pay for the ride up (unless you are fine dining) which cost us about $50 for the family, and the meal itself was about $40.
    • For ten bucks, you can get a dessert which resembles the structure.
    • This is the view of Dealey Plaza without my zoom lens.
    • But here’s Oswald’s perch from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository
    • I also toyed around with the tilt-shift option.
    • This is my attempt at an artsy-fartsy photo.
    • I haven’t really appreciated the architectural design of the new Parkland Hospital until I was up high. It looks like the top half is above water and the bottom half is a reflection on the surface
    • I caught Dallas Police doing some sort of exercise.
  • I also took the family to Pinstack, which is like Dave and Busters but with a bowling alley.
    • BoyGeeding is expressing bowling frustrations.
    • WifeGeeding and DaughterGeeding felt a bit adventourous.
  • WifeGeeding and I hardly ever have a date night, but I did take her to see La La Land. Here are some spoiler free thoughts:
    • Even though I didn’t spot one light saber, high-speed chase, or any explosions (but I did get up to use the restroom once, so I may have missed it), it was still fun to watch. It’s a beautiful homage to the old movie musicals, and if you like that sort of thing, then you’ll have an appreciation for it.
    • I expect Emma Stone to win an Oscar for her performance, but I couldn’t help but think that Anna Kendrick would have been perfectly cast.
    • I give Ryan Gossling’s singing a B-, but ladies aren’t gonna care about his singing.
    • WifeGeeding bought the soundtrack the very next morning and it plays almost nonstop, and when it’s not playing, she hums it all day long. As an experiment for two days, I gave her ten one-dollar bills. I told her she must give me a dollar each time she is caught humming the soundtrack. She owe’s me twenty-three dollars.
  • I only watched a few minutes of college football, but I did catch the few minutes of Keith Jackson in the broadcast booth at the Rose Bowl. He didn’t sound that great, but then again, he’s eighty-eight.
    • Keith Jackson definitely goes in my top ten list of all-time great Keiths.
    • Speaking of the Rose Bowl:
  • Pete Souza was the official White House photographer from 1983 to 1989 during Ronald Reagan’s presidency and all through Obama’s. It’s been following him on Twitter because several news organizations have provided a list of his favorite photos, and he’s replied stating he never selected those as his favorites. He recently released his year in photographs for 2016. I can’t even call myself an amateur photographer, but I do have an appreciation for it, especially trying to get a unique angle or perspective to frame a shot others might never see, so I always look forward to this list and the short story he writes up for every picture. For instance, here are his thoughts behind that Prince George photo:
    • “Originally it was unclear whether I would be permitted to photograph the President meeting Prince George. But the night before, our advance team called and said they had gotten word from Kensington Palace that they would allow me access to make candid photographs during their visit. Afterwards, this photograph garnered the most attention but at the time all I could think was how the table at right was hindering my ability to be at the optimum angle for this moment.” (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)
    • And this photo caught my attention.
“When Stevie Wonder stopped by for a visit, the President described many of the items in the Oval Office including the bust of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)
  • I think a story/book/movie/television show in which the official White House photographer is kidnapped by terrorists would be interesting. That person overhears and sees a lot of sensitive information while blending in the background, or at least a fictionalized version I’m thinking about would be. This person also wouldn’t be well guarded at night when leaving for home, so capturing him or her would be easy. Or maybe not captured, but forced to act as a spy because they are threatening to harm his family.
  • Leia Organa: A Critical Obituary
  • Best photo of Reunion Tower at the start of the new year I’ve seen. I know there was no local broadcast of the event, but I’m surprised I haven’t seen any video of the fireworks. I always wondered why they haven’t done that before, especially since the Seattle Space Needle shoot off fireworks at the start of the new year. But then I found out the new general manager of Reunion Tower previous position was that of the general manager at the Space Needle. That’s a very specific or unique position, I guess her next job will be in Toronto or San Antonio.

Bag of Randomness for Tuesday, December 27, 2016

  • I mentioned it meant a lot to me to watch the original Star Wars trilogy with my kids. BoyGeeding has taken are real liking towards Chewbacca. I forgot that when I was his age, I also had a Chewbacca mask, but not the footie pajamas. I tweeted Peter Mayhew, the guy who played the character in the films and now a North Texas resident, and he was kind enough to like the tweet.
  • The largest mosquito I’ve ever seen tried to bite me yesterday. Mosquitos the day after Christmas!?
  • Last week I was informed my U2 fan club membership was about to expire, which I pay for so I can get advanced concert tickets when they tour. However, since their last tour didn’t even sniff Texas and I felt Bono and the boys stood me up, I held off. On Christmas, they announced they were going to tour in 2017 to honor or celebrate the 30th release of their iconic album, The Joshua Tree. There are reports U2 will do stadium performances in the US during late spring, followed by stadiums in Europe, and headlining Bonnaroo in June. I’m hopeful they come to Texas, especially DFW, but since I felt snubbed last night and didn’t think Bono could pull off blonde hair look, I may just stay home.
  • ESPN’s Monday Night Football crew didn’t even notice that Ezekiel Elliot, who wears jersey number 21, like Deion Sanders, did the signature Sanders high step while running into the endzone last night.
  • I loved that trick play last night, the reverse to Dez who throws a touchdown pass to Witten. A little before the play, Gruden, who I like, stated how Witten was having trouble getting on the stat sheet for the game.
  • The cleanest and most well-kept Dairy Queen restroom exists in Little Elm, Texas.
  • George Michael’s birth name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.
  • – Well, we had a choice of steak or fish.
    – Yes, yes, I remember, I had lasagna.

  • Sometimes, I feel so sorry for BunnyGeeding.
