My Fifth and Sixth Christmas Card of 2009

My fifth card came from long time BoN reader Rev Hart and his family all the way from NYC.  They always put together a very eloquent letter and man, they sure can take one heck of a family picture.

My Sixth card came from Melissa of North Carolina.  She was not only nice enough to address the card to “The Residents of GeedingManor” but she included several coupons that everyone in GeedingManor can use:

  • DogGeeding and OtherDogGeeding can use the buy one-get-one-free Freshpet Select Food coupon.
  • WifeGeeding can take advantage getting $3.50 off ULTA fragrance and cosmetics, but she only has until the 19th of this month.
  • I can use the dollar off coupon for some Rayovac batteries.
  • And WifeGeeding and I both can use the two Olive Garden coupons – $2 off two lunch entrees abd $4 off two dinner entrees – as long as we use them before the 23rd of January.

So far that’s one from Kansas, one from New York, one from North Carolina, and three from Texas.

Wanna join in on the fun and send me card so I can add to the total?  Come on, send me some Christmas cheer and a random coupon or two. You can do it for free, just click here.

I haven’t received any cards yet from Google, I bet they got a ton of request.

  • I mowed the lawn one last time for the year.  The grass wasn’t really that high, but I don’t like raking leaves and found the mower mulches them quite effectively.
  • WifeGeeding has another doctor appointment today – something baby related, no sonogram, but I’m still gonna tag along.
  • I didn’t even enter a drawing but won two Cowboys Stadium tour tickets.  I think I want to take the tour before the end of the season just to be sure the field not rolled up for some kind of event.
  • I wasn’t surprised that Tiger’s wife was spotted without her wedding ring, I was surprised she was spotted pumping her own gas.
  • I wonder if I’ll ever own a truck.

Asian students under attack at S. Phila. High

Zhihua Tian traveled thousands of miles from his native China earlier this year to profit from the treasures of the American education system.

Unfortunately, he landed at South Philadelphia High School, where the number of violent incidents often overshadow student achievements.

Tian, 19, of South Philly, and five other students who are recent immigrants are staying home today because they were among 26 Asian students who were attacked by a gang of other students throughout the day yesterday, said Xu Lin, of the Chinatown Development Corporation, who works with victimized students.

The ordeal began Wednesday, Lin said, when a Vietnamese student was jumped by 14 students across the street from the school.

Yesterday, the attackers were roaming the halls “searching for victims class by class during school,” he said.

Violent incidents against Asian students often go unreported because the victims often have a language barrier or choose to suffer in silence rather than risk retaliation, said Tram Nguyen, a community organizer with Victim Services in South Philly.

Quadriplegic NJ Man Wins Right To Hunt With Mouth-Operated Shotgun

Jamie Cap, 46, was injured in an accident 30 years ago while playing American football. A head-on tackle resulted in a neck injury that left him a quadriplegic and robbed him of hunting, one of his passions.

But after a 2 1/2 year legal battle, Mr Cap has won the right – with the help of a partner – to use a 12-gauge shotgun fitted with a battery-powered machine that is operated by a breathing tube. He can adjust the angle by nudging a toggle switch.

He fired his first shot in three decades last week, describing the experience as priceless.
