  • The Simpsons know my hell all too well.
  • I’m all for spending money on space exploration, but I’m not a fan of spending money to repair or refurbish the Battleship Texas. I’m all about honoring the past, but not holding on to it. It’s more important to look to the future. Can we learn from the past? Absolutely, but we never do, so let’s not spend any more money on old stuff.
  • I don’t know if former President Trump’s sons ever had top secret clearance, but I’m certain they have held and read top secret documents. And, I’m willing to bet that copies of top secret documents exist outside of Mar-a-Lago. I’m also willing to bet he was willing to sell information on those documents for money and favors with foreign adversaries.

  • And just like that, it’s September. The days are slow, but the years are fast. I find a lot of truth in that statement.
  • Don’t worry, I’ll be dead soon. Last year, my cholesterol was a relatively healthy 178. As of Saturday, my cholesterol is a whopping 308. I’ve also put on 40lbs rather fast.
  • The Musers were talking about a new documentary about the Lakers and Dr. Jerry Buss. It turns out he raised enough money to buy the Cowboys, but word got out that the board of governors wouldn’t approve the sale of a football team to a playboy millionaire. What an amazing thought, one man could have owned two of the three most iconic teams in sport.
  • I’ve mentioned it before, but I hate how unfair the standard divorce decree in Texas is. It states if I get a new job, I have to notify the court and my ex by certified mail. The ex can get a new job but doesn’t have to inform me or the court. That makes me feel like I did something wrong, like I broke the law or something. I think it’s cruel and unusual punishment.
  • There was a coming of age moment I wish I could have shared with the mother of my children. It’s not a big deal, especially for most of you, but DaughterGeeding now wants to walk to school. I only live a mile from the school and there are plenty of sidewalks. I said yes after briefing her on some safety concerns and instructing her to text me as soon as she steps foot on campus. Her brother still prefers me to drive him to school. So, it’s nice being able to still take one of them to school, and then check up on the other as I drive to ensure her safety.
  • This CNN article says to apply very hot water to a mosquito bite, but doesn’t say why. So, I did the research and the best reason why hot water is that it will overload the nerves in the same way ice does and also opens the pores to allow the itch-causing toxins easier escape.
  • Think TopGolf ….. but with soccer balls and a simulator screenImmersive social soccer experience comes to the Dallas Design District in 2023.

  • She makes a good point.

  • Stacey Abrams is a very poised speaker. She was well coached for this debate. The format of the debate is weird. The candidates are standing next to one another. So, when they speak to the other, they do so by not looking at their opponent, but by looking straight into the camera. It would be hard for me to talk to someone and not look directly at them. I did a little research on her and discovered she’s a Longhorn. And here’s my hot political opinion, she’ll be the first female POTUS.

  • I got a kick out of listening to Why Today Doesn’t Suck on The TICKET yesterday. They hold the segment every day. Listeners (P1s) write in asking the radio personalities to recognize birthdays and such. One woman asked the guys to recognize her ex-husband. They were married for 20 years, were both P1s, and in her words, “raised P1 children.” To my ex-wife’s credit, she did write in one year, and even had Bob plug this website. That may have been the best birthday present she ever gave me.
  • For you developers out there. I’m trying to create some Selenium test cases using Python 3.30. But before I can run any test cases, I just need to get my PC to work with Python using PyCharm. Python works likes it’s supposed to using PyCharm, and I’ve verified Selenium is installed. It was installed using the command prompt. But I’m having trouble using PyCharm to install the Selenium webdriver. Here’s my code and the error I keep getting. I’m guessing I have something stored in the wrong area and I’m making it look for something that is somewhere else.
  • I’m looking forward to this, I love it when filmmakers go old school and use practical effects – ‘Andor’ Built an Entire Outdoor City with Practical Effects, Limited CGI for ‘Star Wars’ Series
  • I thought our society advanced enough not to have to worry about book bans and book burnings. Well, I’m wrong.

  • This could be nothing, or it could be the tip of the iceberg.

  • BoyGeeding and I played the new Madden game last night. It’s so much fun bonding with him over video games, especially that one. There are a lot of tributes in the game to honor the late coach.
  • When I was married, I never thought I’d be able to take the kids to school again. It just made sense for the wife to take the kids to school, since she worked on the same campus. But now, depending on the possession schedule, I have the opportunity to take them to school like I used to do before my then wife went back to work. I loved those moments in the car together in the morning, and grateful I get to do it again on occasion. Sure, big vacation trips are fun and memorable, but it’s those little parts of parenting that’s special and heart fulfilling.
  • I was really disappointed in one of my closest friends as I went through some major life events. I felt he wasn’t there for me after I lost my father, best friend, and then my mother, despite me being there and supporting him during his major life events. But, he’s been with me every step of the way through this divorce and post divorce period. He’s even taken me to the hospital for surgery, twice, driving all the way from Mineral Wells just to do so. On Sunday, he drove to town just to have dinner with me for my birthday and just to check up on things. I’m grateful for his friendship, one that has lasted about 35 years.
  • Today is my birthday. Woo wee. I wish I had the type of relationship with my ex in which we could at least exchange birthday texts or send a card. The only thing that’s stopping me is she doesn’t want to do that stuff or have that kind of relationship.
  • It’s a little sad I’m buying a birthday cake for myself. But hey, it’s my birthday and I want to indulge in a little self-care. So, I’m going to buy me a cake (actually, a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake) and share it with my kids who will happen to be with me this year.
  • In case you are wondering, I’m now 47.
  • Seven years ago I climbed a mountain. Guadalupe Peak, and danced with my then wife on Texas’ highest peak. It meant a lot to me, and I thought it was romantic. No telling what she really thought of the experience, as I learned she suppressed a lot of her feelings to placate me.
  • Here’s some news on a former classmate of mine – Matt Chandler To Take Leave of Absence Following Inappropriate Online Behavior; Chandler ‘In Glad Submission’ to TVC Elders
    • On Sunday (August 28), The Village Church (TVC) announced that Matt Chandler would be taking a leave of absence from preaching and teaching following an inappropriate direct messaging relationship with a woman who is not his wife. While not romantic or sexual, Chandler described the messaging relationship as being characterized by “familiarity” and “coarse and foolish joking.” Chandler further described his online behavior as “unguarded and unwise,” and his leave of absence is both “disciplinary and developmental.” He further expressed his agreement with and submission to the elder board’s decision, which came after an independent, third-party investigation.
      • Most of the time when stuff of this nature happens, we learn it’s just the tip of the iceberg. That may not be the case with Chandler, but just don’t be surprised.
      • This is one reason why my marriage fell apart. I set up boundaries to protect our marriage, and my ex chose to ignore those boundaries by sending what she considered an innocent message to an ex-boyfriend. In some ways, it was just the tip of the iceberg, and our kids have suffered because of a lapse of judgement. And she wondered why I was concerned about her use of social media. I pray that I can find love again, and that both of us are willing to be transparent and accountable to one another.
      • The best way to handle this situation is complete transparency. That is, release all the messages and let everyone judge for themselves. Right now, I think it’s a bad look for the church to allow Chandler to control the narrative.
