I still enjoy walking down the coffee aisle at the grocery store and smelling the aroma. I may smile every time.
As a kid and teen, I always wanted to check out Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Texas. I’m surprised I haven’t been there as an adult. I hear if you don’t want to be scared, you can buy an eight-dollar “No Boo” necklace so the actors know to stay away from you.
It’s awkward running into your ex at the grocery store with your kids.
Football has become a bit more fun with teams willing to go for it on fourth down more often.
We have the technology to send a rocket to crash into an asteroid 6.8 million miles away, but we still measure first downs with two sticks and a chain.
The last three times the Cowboys won the Super Bowl, their defense gave up an average of 254 points (over a 16-game season). If they maintain their current average of 14.4 points a game, that would be 244 points over 17 games. But, we all should hold our horses.
Few of us have ever really been in a place in which we have nothing else to lose, but it is quite an experience. “Having too much to lose” only made sense once I lost everything.
What’s the magic number of steps to keep weight off? Here’s what a new study says
Taking 8,600 steps a day will prevent weight gain in adults, while already overweight adults can halve their odds of becoming obese by adding an additional 2,400 steps — that’s 11,000 steps a day, according to new research
It was a good sports weekend for me. The Longhorns beat the Sooners, and both the Dallas and Hardin-Simmons Cowboys won. But, the Mineral Wells Rams lost. I really don’t follow the latter two, but looked up the score for grins. All I needed was for the blood-sucking Baptist school to lose, but they didn’t even play this week. For me, it’s more about who loses than my team winning. I want everyone to be miserable.
I don’t like anything about the Longhorn’s quarterback Quinn Ewers other than he’s not playing for the opposing team. I’m 90% certain if he didn’t get hurt in that game against Alabama, they would have won. I’m 60% sure the Longhorns would have won against Bama if Colt McCoy didn’t get hurt in that championship game long ago.
I had three interviews with a company. I’m so ready for a change in life that I’m in control of. There have been a lot of change in my life, but all of them have been out of my control. The first two interviews were very informal. One was on a Saturday and the other on a Sunday. The latter was over Zoom. I chose to wear a sport coat and a buttoned-up collared shirt, but no tie. The man I interviewed with was wearing a t-shirt and apologized for not letting me know there was no need to dress up. It was something I over thank for sure. But, I felt it’s better to be safe than sorry, and expressed I just wanted to shy my respect. During the middle of the interview, I referenced my favorite poem, If by Rudyard Kipling. To my surprise, he looked it up right then and there and we had a friendly chat about it.
60 Minutes interviewed the head of the SBC. Yeah, I know, Jesus is the actual leader, but you know what I mean. I liked most of what he had to say, but there’s no way he’s going to pursue leaders of SBC churches to agree with him.
The coding language Python is not named after the snake, but the comedy troupe.
There’s a sensitive political issue I’m going to post about soon. I felt strongly about my stance for a long time, but upon being presented with a lot of facts and information, I have to eat some humble pie. Since then, I have changed my mind. I think most would as well, but like most of us, won’t take the actual time to review substantial facts and information that’s available. My uncomfortableness with something shouldn’t infringe on someone’s life.
On The Ticket yesterday morning, Craig Miller talked about buying new underwear and how often they should be replaced. He threw out all his old pairs and replaced them with new. That got me to thinking, when was the last time I bought underwear. I recall I did so through Amazon. That’s one thing I like about Amazon, you have a record of all your purchases from all the years you’ve been a customer and can easily search them. Let’s just stay I was surprised at how long I’ve had my underwear and how durable they are.
”He just said ‘Keep the ball and make yourself some money’,” remembered Durante. “To me, that was great. Roger could have taken the baseball, thank you very much. See, people don’t understand, they don’t realize. He was a very thoughtful person, he was.”
Later in the fall of ‘61, a small item appeared in New York papers about a Sacramento, Calif., restaurant owner named Sam Gordon offering $5,000 for the ball with the intention of returning it to Maris. Durante went out to California with Maris, where he gave the baseball to Gordon, who presented it to Maris and handed the teen-ager a $5,000 check. The agreement was contingent upon Maris participating in a photo shoot, and Durante was also comped for the trip and another to the West Coast. Maris later gave the ball to Cooperstown, while Gordon provided Durante and his wife-to-be with a two-week honeymoon.
For you Ticket and now Freak fans, the story of how Grubes made his way to the Freak.
The Python programming language is not named after the snake but the British comedy troupe.
My trivia team came in third last night. I ordered a burger plain and dry, but it tasted like bacon. I’m guessing back was earlier cooked on the grill.
I can’t name one Pink Floyd song. I’m not sure if I could recognize any. I have a feeling I’m familiar with their work, I just can’t identify it.
For the most part, when it comes to tickets, I’m old school. I prefer to print them out and have them scanned. I guess I suffer from performance anxiety relying on getting the barcodes to scan from my phone.
I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday. Sometimes the grief over the loss of your family will sneak up on ya and grab your attention for much longer than you’d ever want.
I know it’s October, and the NFL has a campaign against cancer. But I don’t understand why so many coaches and personnel were wearing hoodies on the sidelines in a comfortable temperature-controlled environment. Was a shirt option not available?
I’m not a Washington Commanders fan, but I liked those all black uniforms.
I’m surprised at the number of holes and openings football helmets have these days. The way they are designed interferes with a lot of logos and decals. I have a feeling a lot of those holes and openings are cosmetic and don’t serve a real function. Or, that helmets could be made where the holes and openings don’t interfere with the decal. But, I suppose the other argument is why aren’t the decals simply modified?
I can’t remember the year. It was over a decade ago, and I was still driving my 4-Runner. But, I recall listening to football scores on the radio and realized I had what I refer to as a [insert your preferred rare-earth or precious metal here] sports weekend. My favorite college and pro football teams both won, and the teams I enjoy to root against (aTm, Oklahoma, Baylor) all lost. I remember in that moment wondering when such a series of events would happen again for me. For years I used to track those five scores (the Mavs and Rangers may have also been included for the ultimate sports weekend, so I guess it happened in mid to late October), and eventually gave up on it because those other teams were so good and built for the long haul and my teams stunk. But this oddity basically happened this past weekend. For the record, the Rangers lost their games over the weekend, my high school lost by a point, yet Hardin-Simmons pulled out a victory. I wonder if I’m the only person who looks for a perfect sports weekend where all my favorite teams win and all the ones I root for lose.
I’ve always wanted to know the story behind those SNL photos you see of the guest hosts after a commercial break, this will be the closest I come to it. I can’t believe I never picked up on that turkey. – ‘SNL’ is back. Here are the stories behind the show’s iconic photos
I placed an online lunch order for some Boston Market. I had no problem placing the order of my credit card being charged, but I had a problem with the facility. No one was there. Someone didn’t open up the restaurant. All I could do was go to their website and fill out a comment card.
I caught a little bit of the new 97.1 after they stopped playing Waiting Is The Hardest Part on repeat. It was weird hearing Rhyner and another old Ticket personality on it.
