Bag of Randomness

  • That Cowboy game was so boring I literally slept through the second and third quarters.
  • I did notice the Cowboys were playing some new music at the stadium, but they didn’t make regional sense.  One song was the Irish instrumental music from The Departed and the other was Sweet Home Alabama. I’ve often dreamed of being the one playing music at the stadium, not announcing or anything, just the one playing music.
  • It looks like Troy Aikman had a new hair style going.  It looked like he was wearing his hear like all the young kids where there’s a lot of gel and it’s spiked in the middle almost like a mow-hawk, but all kind of close cropped.  I call it douche-hair.
  • If there was a day for the Cowboys to play with the roof open, I thought it would have been yesterday.  I know they had the doors opened, and I know it’s the first year of the stadium and they are probably experimenting with things, but off hand, it seems like a waste of money.  I heard someone compare the roof to how a person really wanted a sun-roof in a car only to find out he or she never remembers to use it.
  • Did anyone notice the bottom of Jason Witten’s cleats?  The were very shiny, like they were metallic.
  • I always find it a bit interesting when a player is so injured he can’t get up, some medical personal arrive, and then he is able to jog/run off the field.
  • It was interesting of FOX Sports to point out the anniversary of the JFK assassination at around the time it actually happened complete with video from Dealey Plaza. (Side note:  I’ve always wanted to watch the Oprah/JFK Jr interview, this was the closest I could find.)
  • The Redskins looked they were wearing too much red yesterday.
  • Luke Wilson looks like he gained some weight.  His favorite performance of mine is when he was in an X-Files episode, actually one of my favorite episodes.  Here’s a clip.  Side note: Scully was exceptionally sexy in this episode.
  • Off hand, in print and on television, I think Ford advertises more than any other automotive company.
  • I went to a friend’s birthday party over the weekend.  The organizers of the event didn’t show until after thirty minutes after the event was suppose to begin.  Not only did I think it was inconsiderate of all the attendees waiting outside the restaurant, but I felt sorry for the restaurant owner who reserved an entire section and held it for us the entire time.
  • I was watching CBS Sunday Morning and a Catholic priest stated he loves eating Popeye’s chicken because if you look at it, it actually says “Pope yes”.
  • Google Vietnamese Toilet Paper
  • Empty LA
  • Parking Break Fail
  • There’s an iPhone app to help someone unlock a combination lock.
  • People really love their hockey sticks
  • This was a nice gesture by President Lincoln, but I’m sure all the kids would just say it was a made up letter since it wasn’t on letterhead.
  • This headline caught my attention: Plane misses runway, lands in lava
  • WifeGeeding was dancing around to some music over the weekend with her little belly-bump sticking out – it was quite cute and funny.
  • While watching 60 Minutes last night James Cameron mentioned that OJ Simpson was originally cast as the lead for The Terminator.
  • I saw a new Folgers commercial that tries to recreated the classic version where Peter comes home for Christmas.
  • Speaking of Christmas commercials, this new Gap commercial has started the 2009 war on Christmas.
  • MmmmmmmmmmmmCurly fries
  • Yuck!  Turkey and anchovies
  • Expect very little posting this week.

I am not a football fan. I do live in Chicago (I know the Bears are doing poorly), One story on local stations this morning is not only how poorly we did in last night's game against the Eagles, there is video being shown of Devin Hester being tackled by the Eagles Dimitri Patterson and Patterson pulled down Hester's pants and exposed his bare behind.

I do not like the new Gap commercial.

The X-files was the greatest show ever (my opinion.)

Have no doubt that Oprah's greatest interviews video will be released in a few years and the JFK interview will be part of it (along with Tom Cruise announcing he is in love by jumping up down on the couch. Did you see that one?)

I don't care for the war on Christmas at all. I completely see the logic for using happy holidays in advertising, but why would you try and confront it head on? That doesn't seem like a very smart decision. They're now alienating a large group of people who are already sensitive to the issue.

I am shipping up to Boston is the name of the irish song by the Drop Kick Murphys.
