LAPD plans to accept 911 text messages

The Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday announced plans to pursue improvements to the city’s 911 system, saying callers in the future will be able to use text messages, photos and even video from cellphones to seek emergency assistance.

  1. by the time i text H E L P, my friend would have choked, my house would be in cinders, the tornado would be in Kansas (i'm in houston), and my achey, brakey heart would be mush.

    this is for another generation.

    it takes so long now for 911 operators just to answer cell phone calls….I can only imagine how long it would take to answer texts…yikes!
