A man claiming to be the second coming of Jesus Christ is becoming a rich man, thanks to followers and their donations.

His name is Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda, but his followers call him Apostle, Dad or simply Jesus Christ Man. 

de Jesus is 60-years-old, a former heroin addict and a convict.He lives with his second wife and, from a Miami-area warehouse, he runs the “Creciendo en Gracia” (or “Growing in Grace”) ministry.According to this self-proclaimed messiah, there is no sin, no devil.

There is no mystery or manipulation behind the recent fall in gasoline prices, analysts say. Try telling that to many U.S. motorists.

Almost half of all Americans believe the November elections have more influence than market forces. For them, the plunge at the pump is about politics, not economics.

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber always had a moral message in their long-running “VeggieTales” series, a collection of animated home videos for children that encourage moral behavior based on Christian principles. But now that the vegetable stars have hit network television, they cannot speak as freely as they once did, and that has got the Parents Television Council steamed.The conservative media-watchdog group issued a statement Wednesday blasting NBC, which airs “VeggieTales,” for editing out some references to God from the children’s animated show.

Two weeks ago, NBC began airing 30-minute episodes of “VeggieTales” on Saturday mornings. The show was edited to comply with the network’s broadcast standards, said NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks.

Had he known how much he would have to change the show — including Bob and Larry’s tagline, “Remember kids, God made you special and he loves you very much,” that concludes each episode — Vischer said he would not have signed on for the network deal.

But this is the quote that has me scratching my head:

“If NBC is so concerned about that four-letter-word God, then they shouldn’t have taken `VeggieTales’,” he said. “This just documents the disconnect between Hollywood and the real world.“

The one thing that makes me feel real icky is touching a gas pump handle.  It’s probably one of the most handled things in the modern world, and there is no telling who has touched it. 

The rubber handle feels weird enough, but you just don’t know if gas has spilled on that handle, or what kind of germs from other folks have been placed upon it. 

Before you think I’m a total nutcase, just think about it – People sneeze and cough and touch it, not to mention people that don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom.  The gas pump handle is a prett gross thing.
