For work-related issues, I had to travel to the Dallas Federal Building. I’ve been there twice before over the span of five years, but can never remember how to get there so I relied on navigation. I found a decent parking spot, walked into the building, went through security and had my laptop x-rayed, walked into the elevator, and when I noticed the elevator didn’t have a button for the eleventh floor, I realized I was in the wrong building. Despite inputting the correct street address on Google Maps, it kept directing me to the county courts building.
I parked in front of a meter. I had change, but I couldn’t find a place to insert coins on the meter, so I had to pay for parking by downloading an app. As I was doing so, a young adult male started to smash one of those green rental bikes with a brick. Another man confronted him about it, and it appears the bike didn’t accept the dollar he paid to rent it so he was trying to get his dollar back or something. It was an interesting confrontation. The bike smasher didn’t seem mad or upset he was being called out, and the man calling him out didn’t seem intimidated by a man with a brick in his hand.
The computer is 1mm x 1mm, smaller than a grain of fancy salt, and apparently costs less than ten cents to manufacture
IBM claims the computer has the power of an x86 chip from 1990. That puts it exactly on the edge of enough power to run the original Doom (the original README.TXT for Doom says a 386 processor and 4MB of RAM is the minimum).
There’s a lot going on in that picture. It was taken at the Texas Pinball Festival in Frisco, Texas. DaughterGeeding is playing a Incredible Hulk pinball game while being filmed by the news, and that’s the original Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, right above her head. Autographs from Ferrigno were $40. We didn’t get an autograph. Oh, and the news didn’t include DaughterGeeding in their segment when it aired. It was neat seeing her get excited about possibly being on TV and then watch her react with an “oh well” when it aired and wasn’t included.
That picture was only possible because of the kindness of BoN reader, Rusty, who couldn’t have been friendlier. It was easy to notice he’s a major celebrity in the local pinball arena (everyone knew his name), and he sported a green shamrock suit the entire time. His wife, by the way, wore a tutu, and totally (sham)rocked it.
There were about 450 pinball tables and video games combined at the Texas Pinball Festival, all free with the price of admission,
At the event the kids had a caricature drawn of them together. DaughterGeeding loved it and remarked how happy she was the artist drew her teeth crooked like they are in real life, not perfect like others.
Apple has a new commercial featuring a high school year wearing overalls. I guess overalls are back in style, but I think the kids are wearing them tighter.
Lower ranked Texas A&M blew out higher ranked North Carolina, in Charlotte. That’s basically a home game for North Carolina. That’s an impressive win and I guess keeps Bush41’s bracket in tack since he sentimentally picked them to go to the championship game.
I watched the opening to the television drama that airs right after ’60 Minutes’. It had a Rob Lowe themed party, everyone dressed as a different character the actor has portrayed. Funny bit.
Actress Jayne Atkinson is on two Sunday prime time dramas back-to-back, but on different networks – ‘Madam Secretary’ and ‘The Walking Dead’. Many will know her best from her work on ’24’ but I really only took notice of her on the last two seasons of ‘House of Cards’ in which she plays the Secretary of State. She has an exceptional amount of poise she brings to her characters. Interesting fact about her, she offers coaching lessons via Skype.
Work on monologues, graduate school auditions, and/or answer questions about the business. For more advanced actors, work on coaching to your weaknesses.
It’s confirmed, U2 won’t have any opening acts for their upcoming tour. Despite of that, they still like starting late, about a half hour. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s people showing up late for meetings.
I really don’t use the word “nonetheless” in verbal communication.
I always thought those paintings of presidents of the same political party playing poker were hokey, but they have been updated with both Obama and Trump. Each, though, has a distinctive woman in the background. Per the artist (an independent-minded Midwesterner who’s a fan of both Reagan and Bill Clinton):
“That will be the first Republican female president and the first Democratic female president,” he explained. “As I was doing the painting, I was thinking that these guys are kind of intimidating in a way. That’s the kind of woman that will be our first woman president; she’ll walk right up to that table.”
College kids can’t stand U2. U2 is played a lot going from and to commercial breaks during coverage of the NCAA men’s tournament. I love it that this annoys the college-aged crowd.
I got lured into the Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech game, it was dang good. Tech is a fun team to watch.
I’ve had a bum knee for the last five years or so and have simply tolerated it. You can hear a grinding sound as it bends and there’s an especially sharp pain when I walk down stairs. Sometimes it will simply buckle, but not all that often. Since I’m over my deductible, I decided to get it checked out and see a knee doctor. The x-rays show my bones are good, but I might have a torn ligament and will have an MRI tomorrow. But before the MRI, I’m going to have a sonogram of my kidneys performed. I’m not trying to sound whiney or seek any sympathy because I don’t feel down about any of this. If anything, I’m glad I’m getting things addressed, a lot of which I’ve simply put off.
An hour before my kidney sonogram, I have to drink 32 ounces of water.
