Bill Cosby’s Sweaters For Sale

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Not everyone can be Dr. Cliff Huxtable, the quick-with-a-quip dad that Bill Cosby played on TV for eight years. But for the right price, you could dress just like him this Father’s Day.

Cosby’s daughter, Evin, said her mother and father were cleaning out a closet recently when they came across a batch of the sweaters her dad wore when he played Huxtable on NBC’s The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992.

“I pounced on these sweaters,” she said Thursday, adding she figured they could help a charity named for her brother, Ennis, raise a substantial amount of money.

Now three of them are going up for sale on eBay, with the proceeds earmarked for the Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation.

The nonprofit organization, which raises money to benefit educational programs, is named in honor of Cosby’s only son, who was about to begin his doctoral studies when he was murdered in Los Angeles in 1997.

The auction is scheduled for June 2-12, with minimum bids set at $5,000.

“The price of what some of these sweaters might sell for could make a big difference in the lives of thousands of children,” said Evin Cosby.

Re-Tiled and Re-Opened

It is a national icon, one of the world’s greatest tourist attractions – and an appalling advertisement for Italian builders. But now, 18 years after it was closed to the public for fears that it might topple over, the Leaning Tower of Pisa has been stabilised and has been declared safe for at least another three centuries.

“All of our best expectations have been confirmed,” said Michele Jamiolkowski, emeritus professor of geotechnical engineering at Turin Polytechnic, who led the project to safeguard the tower. “Now we can say that the tower can rest easy for at least 300 years.”

The tilt has now returned to where it was in the early 19th century, with a lean out of true of 3.99 metres, and the tower is being cleaned by restorers using lightweight scaffolding.

Anyone else heard of this remedy to stop a cough?

Slather your feet in VapoRub to stop coughs. Origin: North America. Goodness knows how this was discovered, but many families swear that covering the soles of one’s feet with Vick’s VapoRub and then a heavy pair of socks will cure nighttime coughs. This remedy isn’t officially endorsed by Vick’s, but it is used widely in North America and said to be very effective.

On a slightly more morbid note, I was once told by a nurse to put a little bit of this stuff in your nostrils before visiting a patient that has an odor issue.  I shared that with a friend and he informed me he does this all the time when he has diaper duty.
