Bag of Lost Thoughts

  • Jack needed to bring something from his father to be with Locke.  I suspect that Hurley was told that he needed to bring something from Charlie, hence the guitar case.  But I don’t know why things from other dead Lost characters that were one the original flight wasn’t represented by something.  What if Kate is pregnant, and is now a substitute for Claire?  If you recall, Hurley boarded late for Oceanic 815.  Ben thought Hurley wasn’t going to make it, and tried to be a substitute for Hurley by arriving late.
  • How did Ben get beat up?  I bet when Ben saw Desmond he was just grinning on the inside, because he knew Desmond would lead him to Penelope.  Ben’s errand, that promise to an old friend, was to kill Penelope, and he was beat up by Desmond or her during the task.  Ben got his revenge on Charles Widmore for killing his daughter by killing Penelope.  And if you recall, Desmond and Penelope were on a boat and Ben made the phone to Jack from a phone booth on a pier,
  • Jin is going to be really ticked off once he finds out Sun was on that plane.
  • Another theory. . . Jack’s grandfather, Ray, is really Jack.  He didn’t impede anything because he knew Jack needed to go to the island.  He caused a ruckus at the retirement home so that Jack would have to come down for a visit and allowed him to present the shoes to Jack.
  • I don’t trust Kate anymore, especially when she said something to the effect of “Just because we are on the same plane doesn’t mean we’re together.”  She’s up to something.
  • I have a feeling we’re going to be stuck in the 1950’s for a while.
  • Jack is very comparable to Saul of Tarsus.  For the most part, he persecuted Locke, the Jesus like figure in the series.  And now Jack is a believer, as if he’s been converted.  Combine that with that fact that the flight number of the plane was 316 . . .  as in John 3:16 and it all kinda makes sense.
  • This might be a bit of a stretch, but there was an episode of the Twilight Zone called Dead Man’s Shoes.  It was basically about a bum who took the shoes from a man who was killed by the mob, and then took the personality of the man that was killed.
  • I bet the creator of the Lamp Post is not Daniel, but Dr Chang.  Daniel just seems too obvious.

Bag of Randomness

  • This may be the last post this week unless I can find some spare time.
  • Yesterday’s plan after work was to pick up an allergy nose spray prescription on the way home from work, work out, prep for class, watch Lost, and find a few interesting links for my loyal readers.  Things didn’t go to plan.
  • There was a wreck on I35, so I took an alternate route to the pharmacy.  OK, just one small wrinkle in my plan.
  • Turns out my new health insurance doesn’t cover my nose spray.  WIthout insurance it would cost about $115 for a 30 day supply.  I plan on asking the doc for something else.  I’m thankful for having healthcare in the this great land of ours, but sometimes stuff like this frustrates me.
  • As soon as I get home I really had to go number two.  After sitting on the thrown for a moment or two I notice water is leaking from the bottom of the toilet.  Yup, that’s a confidence builder.   I rush through my normal routine, turn the water to the commode off, remove all water, and unbolt the toilet from the floor so I can replace the wax ring that’s underneath it.  That wet-dry vac I bought for twenty bucks a couple years ago finally came in handy.
  • I head to the nearest Lowe’s only to run into another traffic jam.  Blerg.
  • I need more than a wax ring, but I failed to remember if I had a three or four in line.  I buy two of everything so I can return the unused stuff.
  • On the way home WifeGeeding calls and wants to know why the toilet is not where it’s suppose to be.  I playfully tell her stop being so nosy.
  • When I arrive home WifeGeeding and I eat some leftovers in a bit of a hurry so I can fix the toilet and get back to my plans for the evening, but it looks like I won’t be able to fit in a workout.  Blerg.
  • As I’m working on the commode WifeGeeding tells me it would be a good idea if I go ahead and paint the small room where the toilet is located since we can now fit a ladder in there to reach the trouble spots.  See, half the room was already painted, but we never finished it because of football season and we couldn’t fit a ladder in there.  All that to say . . . I started to paint.  Blerg.
  • After painting I spent wayyyyyy too much time trying to get the toilet bolted to the floor.  The hardest part is trying to line up the bolts evenly as you put the toilet in place.
  • After I clean up I decided to read the mail.  Turns out escrow didn’t cover all the tax, so we owe almost $500.  It’s a good thing I have to work overtime this weekend.  But I rather spend my weekend relaxing.
  • I finally get to watch Lost even though it’s been on for thirty minutes.  God bless the DVR.
  • There’s no time to search for any interesting links, so you are just left with a bunch of random thoughts.
  • Speaking of Lost, I only have one thought right now.  They must be back in time.
  • I now have to prep for class.  Four hours of lecture and activities takes lots of prep work.  I found early on that if you aren’t prepared, you don’t have confidence, and if you lose the confidence of your students you lose credibility.  But here are a few more thoughts . . .
  • There was a tri-college Bible study I use to attend on Thursday night while I was in college.  I would say about two to three thousand would usually attend.  There’s one night I’ll always remember.  I was sitting next to one of my old roommates (and the shortest roommate I ever had) when the speaker told us to turn to a certain passage.  My roommate looked at me, smiled, and said, “Isn’t that just a beautiful sound.”  The sanctuary was silent, except for the sound of several thousand Bibles with pages being turned.
  • That guy was my roommate during the time my father was dying, and I never thought I treated him respectfully enough during that time.  Even though I was going through a tough time, I’m still upset at myself for not being a better friend.
  • But then again, he was from White Deer.
  • Several years ago I met up with him on a golf outing and he actually hit a hole in one, the first and probably last I will ever see.  Note:  That’s him on the right, but not when he hit that hole in one.
  • There’s something else I’ll always remember about that guy, out of all the men I know, he’s most in touch with his feminine side.  All my other friends would agree.
  • I wonder why NutriSystem only offers their food online.  I would think they would make much more money by selling them in stores.
  • One of my oldest friends called me out of the blue while I was at work yesterday and told me he just visited my father’s grave.  I can’t tell you how touching that was.  I was so touched I really didn’t know how to respond.
  • Sorry for the lack of links, posts, etc.
