• My first three CDs, which I purchased all at the time time, were Wilson Phillips’ self-titled debut album, Bell Biv DeVoe’s debut album Poison, and Amy Grant’s Heart in Motion.
• BoyGeeding had his first baseball practice of the season yesterday. The last time he played organized ball was two years ago in a Tball league. The boy is okay, but a little rusty, he could use some help from Tom Emanski and “Atlanta Braves superstar Fred McGriff”, whose instructional series is now available in its entirety on YouTube. I’m sure SportsCenter fan of the ’90s can quote the commercial from heart.

He watched the whole thing without saying a word, and as soon as it finished he said, “Dad, I think I know what he means when he says ‘that’. I think he’s telling her he won’t go to jail for her.”
  • • • In case you are wondering what “that” actually it, well, it depends on the preceding lyric.
        • Each verse mentions two things that the man would do for love, followed by one thing that he will not do. The title phrase repetition reasserts that he “won’t do that.” Each mention of “that” is a reference to the particular promise that he made earlier in the same verse. The four things he says he will never do are:
          • “forget the way you feel right now”
          • “forgive myself if we don’t go all the way tonight”
          • “do it better than I do it with you”
          • “stop dreaming of you every night of my life”

          At the song’s conclusion, the woman predicts two things that he will do: “You’ll see that it’s time to move on”, and “You’ll be screwing around.” To both of these, the male emphatically responds, “I won’t do that!”

      • The vocals don’t begin until the one minute and fifty seconds of the song.

  • On Saturday, the Meyers Park rising senior said he proudly registered 16 people to vote. Ledbetter himself is not even old enough to vote but said he wanted to push for others to get involved in local politics.

• Elvis only made 17 major television appearances in his career and only one commercial endorsement. He was only 19 and the commercial was for it was for Southern Maid Donuts, a place he loved. His compensation was simply a box of glazed donuts. All of this is stated on the company’s website, and to my surprise, three are located near me. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed them before.

• Yesterday I was standing in the narthex at our church when WifeGeeding pointed out I had a rainbow on my forehead. I joked it’s either a blessing from God or some sort of prophecy being fulfilled. But then again, maybe I’ve been anointed the new leader of an LGBT cause or will be on the cover of Pink Floyd cover band.
• Is it too much to ask for a Silver Spoons reunion show? Surely Ricky Schroder, Joel Higgins, Erin Gray, and Alfonso Ribeiro’s schedules don’t overlap that much. Here’s the intro in case you just need to sing along with the theme song.
• DaughterGeeding is in the fourth grade. The father of one of her classmates died a few days ago. Students were gossiping as to the absence of their classmate. After receiving permission from the family, the teachers informed the students and had a heavy conversation about death and gossiping.
• Does anyone remember when Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller was traveling to Oklahoma to get the “Jesus Shot” to treat his chronic pain? The doctor, John Michael Lonergan, got a lot of attention because he was charging $300 for the shot. He was a licensed doctor in Ohio until he served time for 8 felonies involving tax evasion, mail fraud, and healthcare fraud. Recently, I discovered the doctor died a little over two years ago. I’m a bit surprised his death wasn’t mentioned in the news, I couldn’t find any news articles other than obituaries about his death. I’m not saying I’m interested in the shot, but I wonder if someone else is still giving the shot and if Sid Miller still receiving them.
• This was a welcome surprise in my newsfeed – The ‘Breaking Bad’ movie comes to Netflix on October 11th ‘- El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ has Jesse Pinkman fleeing the law.
• I’m so happy Ewan McGregor agreed to do this – Disney+ confirms its Obi-Wan Kenobi series will begin shooting in 2020
