- CBS Sunday Morning had a very interesting story about that painting above, Washington Crossing the Delaware. It’s being restored and will get a new frame, an elaborate frame that it was intended to be in. But I had no idea how huge of a painting it is until I saw them working on the new frame.
- Last week I asked a male friend at work what was his plans for the weekend. He told me that he and some friends were going to go to Baby Dolls (a local gentleman’s club) until one of his friends seriously objected because he didn’t want to be in a confined space with the swine flu going on.
- I would say about 75% of the time when I hear about the Supreme Court either in news or social circles it in someway relates to abortion.
- I made a major mistake of grabbing some lunch at Church’s Chicken on the northern part of Harry Hines Blvd on Friday. A few of us at work stopped by a camera store during our lunch break, and Church’s was the most convenient place to grab some grub on the way back to work. Only problem was the homeless folks panhandling outside and inside the restaurant, and boy were they aggressive. At one point I offered to buy one of them lunch, but he wanted money instead. If I buy them lunch, then at least I know my money went to a meal instead of drugs.
- I’ve noticed that a lot of burger places like to use a lot of red and white tile.
- On Friday night WifeGeeding and I went to the Galleria to try a highly recommended burger place, 5 Guys Burger and Fries. Definitely a great burger, and even better fries. Speaking of fries, they have a dry-erase board in which they write the location the fries came from, in our case, the fries were from Indiana.
- While we were eating, a man and his wife and their two girls entered. The man looked really familiar, and we both thought it might be the new morning anchor on our ABC affiliate. When I went over to get a refill, the man’s wife was getting drinks for her family, and I asked her if her her husband worked in television. A big smile appeared on her face and she said yes, and said I should say hello to her husband. I told her that although I appreciate the invitation, I don’t want to disrupt their night out with the kids. She then said that was not a problem and then called him over saying I was someone he needed to meet. We all had a real nice 15-minute conversation with Chris Flanagan and his wife, one of the nicest couples we’ve ever met.
- In our conversation he asked were I was from, and of course I told him Mineral Wells, and he mentioned he was actually in the Big MW recently doing a story.
- He also mentioned that he wakes up at 2:00 AM every workday. When he tries his best to sleep in, he can’t sleep past 4:00 AM.
- There’s a team on the Amazing Race that does nothing but complain about people who don’t speak English when they are in a non-English speaking country.
- 60 Minutes did a piece over the Antinori wine company. What I found most interesting is that it has been a family owned business since 1385! The family member that is the head of the business works on a family desk that was built during the Renaissance.
- A blog about nothing but piles.
- A new phone book arrived the other day – what a waste of paper. It went straight to the recycle bin.
- The death of Danny Gans scares me – the man simply died in his sleep. He was only 52 and appeared to be a very clean cut and healthy guy.
- I think about death, my death in particular, daily.
- Sad aftermath of the Cowboys practice facility collapse – a 33 year old scout is now permanently paralyzed from the waist down. And our new special teams broke isn’t paralyzed, but does have a broken vertebra.
- With the roof coming down and the combination of a wet ground and broken electrical wires, I’m amazed no one was electrocuted.
- Anyone else watching Survivor? If you did, you heard Coach talk about Stephen being stoned to death in the temple and saying “God, forgive them for they know not what they do.” You’re right, there isn’t such a story in the Bible.
