Wash. man electrocuted by urinating on power line

MONTESANO, Wash. (AP) – Authorities believe a Washington man was killed by accidentally urinating on a downed power line after a car crash.

Grays Harbor County sheriff’s Deputy Dave Pimentel (PIM’-en-tel) said Monday 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday and called a relative to pull his car from a ditch.

However, family members found Messenger electrocuted when they arrived.

Pimentel says Messenger apparently urinated into a roadside ditch but didn’t see the live wire. The urine stream likely served as a conductor, allowing the electricity to reach his body.

Pimentel says there will be an autopsy but burn marks indicated the way the electricity traveled through Messenger’s body.

I remember watching an episode of Mythbusters were they disproved this, but then again, they were working with a much lower dose of electricity.

An Atheist Defends the Bible

My longtime readers know that I like to get many perspectives when it comes to things regarding politics and religion.  Well, this post deals with the latter.  I feel that even though I may not agree with a person’s view, I can still learn from them and I can get a better idea of what people think of my views, unfiltered.

I’ve been following former Christian and current atheist Daniel Florien for a while now.  I like how he writes about his history and find insight on his perspective on things regarding the Christian faith.  He does this with a non-confrontational view and provides a lot of substance with his thoughts, well, at least in my opinion.

Anyways, last week he made a post about defending the Bible.  I know many of you will probably not agree with his post because he takes a very liberal view of the Bible, but then again, you don’t read about an atheist defending the Bible everyday either.

So here’s the piece, and I would be interested in your thoughts.

Classical Pianist Uses Recycled Chips Bags for CD Cases

Classical pianist Soyeon Lee made a big environmental statement last year when she wore a dress made from over 6,000 juice pouches to her Carnegie Hall recital. Now, Lee is taking her passion for spreading environmental awareness even further by teaming up with TerraCycle Inc. to release her new album, Re!nvented, with the world’s most eco-friendly CD packaging.

Re!nvented CD cases are made from chip bags collected from millions of school children in North America. The bags are shredded and compressed to provide an alternative to PVC, the material most often used for jewel cases, which is petrochemical-based, difficult to recycle and is linked to elevated cancer rates among workers and people who live near manufacturing plants.
