  • Sen Kay Bailey Hutchison and her husband are an interesting couple, both ran for governor of Texas and lost.
  • Other things I didn’t know about her – this is her second marriage and she was preceded in the Senate by Bob Krueger – I always thought she was preceded by Lloyd Bentson.
  • Rush Limbaugh’s Fifth Avenue penthouse is for sale, here are some pictures of the inside, which isn’t what I quite expected.
  • One of my friends at work, who is of the same age as me, asked me to rank the presidents of my lifetime from worst to first.  That was harder said than done.
  • I didn’t have a problem with the kids in the JFK tower giving a few commands for take-off, they seemed well supervised, but if they had anything to do with landings that would bother me.

Congressman wants Ronald Reagan to replace Ulysses S. Grant on the $50 bill

He already has an airport after him — Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport outside of Washington D.C. And recently, lawmakers unveiled a statue of Reagan at the U.S. Capitol.

Now Republican Rep. Patrick T. McHenry of North Carolina wants to sub Reagan on the nation’s $50 bill for President Ulysses S. Grant, a union general during the Civil War who led the North to victory and later became the nation’s 18th POTUS. Grant, a champion for African Americans, died broke, so he probably appreciates the money. But if McHenry has his way, Grant will be retired to the dustbin of history.

“Every generation needs its own heroes,” McHenry said Tuesday. “One decade into the 21st century, it’s time to honor the last great president of the 20th and give President Reagan a place beside Presidents Roosevelt (on the dime) and Kennedy (on the half dollar).”

McHenry did not mention Reaganomics, the theory of trickle-down spending whose viability seems to be in dispute at the moment. The congressman’s case: Polls of presidential scholars consistently show Reagan outranking Grant, including a Wall Street Journal survey in 2005 that ranked Reagan sixth and Grant 29th.

Random LOST Thoughts

  • I’m not sure if Sayid’s decided to follow NotLocke because he’s “infected” or because he was promised to be with Nadia again.  If it’s the later, once again, women make men crazy.
  • NotLocke said “Hello Sayid” before Sayid stabbed him, which makes me wonder if speaking first saved his life (per Dogan’s instructions).
  • Sayid seemed to be a lot like Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith with his killing of Dogen and the John Lennon looking dude and his overall being played like a pawn and glazed emotions.
  • The boomerang was a nice gift, and I would say it was somewhat symbolic.
  • We met Sayid’s brother before in a season five episode when they were much younger and Omer was taunting Sayid for not being man enough to kill a chicken.  I guess things are much different between the two now.
  • The loan shark guy that Sayid kills is a familiar face.
  • I did enjoy Smokey going postal.
  • There hasn’t been a significant death in a while, I wonder if that is going to change.  Well, there was Dogan, but his character was short lived, but I have a feeling we aren’t done with him yet.  Oh, wait, we found out Locke really died, so I guess that counts.
  • I did like how Dogan was trying to kill Sayid by sending him out in the jungle with that story.
  • The Dude had a interesting comment the other day that the flash-sideways is leading us to the end of the show, that since everything was reset, we are seeing how life would have been.
  • I bet next week we find out why babies don’t survive on The Island, and it all has to do with no one replacing the current leader.
  • I’m interested to see when we will see Widmore again.  The same goes for Desmond.  I wonder if Christian Shepherd will make another appearance.
