  • Anytime I hear about an animal escaping a zoo, I cheer for the animal and I don’t even know what that means.
  • If you are a Breaking Bad fan and live in the area, you have a chance to meet Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. The actors will be signing bottles of their tequila in Dallas from at Total Wine & More.
  • The world’s most powerful passport for 2023 revealedJapanese citizens enjoy visa-free or visa-on-demand access to a record 193 destinations around the world, just ahead of Singapore and South Korea whose citizens can freely visit 192.
  • In Bono’s new book, he wrote the following about his wife:
    • Ali told me that she loved all of me, that even the troubled parts of my soul were her delight. That she loved me when I was four and eight and twelve, that she loved me before she met me aged thirteen… She didn’t need me to be anyone else. She loved me.
    • That’s exactly how I felt about my ex. I loved her even before I met her, revealing letters I wrote to God when I was in high school and college praying and thanking God for her. It hurt not being loved or appreciated the same way I did her.
    • When you feel like your wife is a gift from God and she was made specifically for you, moving on is tougher than the steak she used to cook. It also makes it hard to put together a prayer. That’s when I ask for the Holy Spirit to please interpret my thoughts and feelings into a prayer because I just can’t find the right use of words.
    • A few time I mentioned to my wife that I felt she was more in love with the idea of a husband than she was for the person I am. She asked that I stop saying stuff like that because it messes with her head and makes her think. I was just seeing if her love for me was sincere.
    • One thing I want that she still won’t grant is an opportunity to set the record straight. Neither of us should struggle through a parenting relationship because of unsubstantiated stuff one person believes.
  • Something else Bono wrote in his book, “I can’t change the world, but I can change the world in me.”
  • I’m both a U2 and David Letterman fan, so this feels like it was tailor made for me – Bono and the Edge Give David Letterman Tour of Dublin, Intimate Concert in Disney+ Special
  • In college, when couples talked about what kind of relationship they are in, we called that a DTR. As in, Defining The Relationship. I had a DTR with a lovely woman yesterday. We’ve been messaging each other since September and have met in person a few times. We’re not an item. There’s nothing romantic between us, though there is a lot of flirting. Basically, we agreed we like each other and dating to better know one another with intent. Slow goes it, and that’s okay. I have a lot of check boxes I want checked. She checks quite a few of them, and I think more so than my ex. One thing I like about her, she calls me out on my overthinking and tells me I need to get outside my own head.

  • I found a Venmo debit card outside my front door.  I’m not sure how to find or return it to its rightful owner. There is a name on the back, so I put in a payment request of one dollar and wrote a message that I found their card and if they want it back can contact me via text, and left my phone number.
  • One time when I was a teen, Dad needed some cash and asked me to go to the ATM for him. When I got to the machine, I couldn’t insert my father’s ATM card (different from a debit card if you can remember) because another card was inserted. I eventually got the card out, took it home, and looked up the owner in the phone book. Her card was returned in less than an hour. That’s how I took care of that situation way back when.
  • The Stars played in New York last night. I noticed the advertisements on the rink boards where geared for the Dallas market. I bet one day in the future, those advertisement will be curtailed to either our viewing habits or browser history. The Rangers scored on a true buzzer-beater to send the game into OT, which they ended up winning.
  • There was some point I combed or brushed my hair for the very last time but didn’t realized it would be the last.
  • Elvis lived 42 years, a hard 42. Lisa Marie lived 54 years, and that was a very hard 54. Let the conspiracy theories begin. Poor Priscilla, she not only divorced and buried Elvis, their daughter, but also their grandson.
  • Imagine if Lisa Marie and Michael Jackson had a child, and that child being the heir to both the Jackson and Presley estates.
  • I’m assuming Lisa Marie will be buried at Graceland. I wonder if that is where Priscilla will lie. That’s where Elvis’ grandson is buried and he died in 2020. By the look of things, there’s not much room for other folks to be buried there, but all the Presleys aren’t buried right together.
    • Keough’s grave is located on the opposite end of his grandfather’s, across the garden fountain. In addition, Elvis’ grave is located between his grandmother Minnie and father Vernon. In contrast to other Presley family members buried there, Keough’s grave is a chest tomb.
  • Sometimes people refer to Elvis as the Young Elvis or the Old Elvis. I’m now older than Elvis has ever lived, and I don’t consider the early forties to be old.
  • It’s easy to think of Elvis as some sort of caricature or Halloween costume, but he was actually a son, husband, father; he was human as human could be. Seeing him portrayed seriously on film must have been emotional for Priscilla and Lisa Marie.
  • Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) might be the prettiest woman in Congress right now. As a Georgia Bulldog, she’s probably having a good week. In 1999 she became the first woman to graduate from The Citadel’s Corps of Cadets program, which is mighty impressive.

The image showed Lovato sprawled across a large cushioned crucifix in a leather bondage-style outfit.

  • I don’t gamble or keep up with betting, and I don’t judge those who do. But I was shocked to learn you can now buy Texas Lottery tickets on your phone. I thought in conservative Texas, there would be some sort of protective barrier to prevent gambling addiction. It’s interesting how we can buy lottery tickets online but can’t buy alcohol on a Sunday before noon.
  • The new term “natty” for national championship drives me batty.
  • I keep thinking about this snippet from Bono’s book I’ve been reading, “My father told me in those final days that when accepting his cancers, he’d lost his faith, but he also told me that I should never lose mine.”
  • TCU is having a tough week when it comes to men’s sports. Last night I had the TCU and Texas basketball game on in the background as I read my Bono book. TCU had Texas’ number for most of the game (they led by 18), and almost pulled off the upset until the Longhorns came back.

  • I’ve never really been a breakfast person. Don’t get me wrong, I love breakfast food, and will eat it anytime of the day, I just don’t really eat during breakfast time.
  • Bacon is over-rated. It’s only great when crispy.
  • CBS Sunday Morning had a nice interview with Mark Cuban about him trying to disrupt the prescription drug market with transparent pricing. While it is a bit odd it’s named after him, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs, I like it how he said he wants to put his reputation on the line and cuts out the middleman to save money. It’s almost too good to be true.
    • Cost Plus deals directly with manufacturers and consumers, offering more profits for those who make drugs, and lower prices for those who take them. His prescription for pricing = the drug’s cost, plus 15% for Cost Plus, plus a $3 pharmacy fee, plus $5 shipping.
  • Last weekend my kids asked me what it was like growing up in the ’80s. So, I took their phones and tablets off them, locked them outside and told them not to come back till the street lamps came on.
  • A Dutch supermarket chain introduced slow checkouts for people who enjoy chatting, helping many people, especially the elderly, deal with loneliness. The move has proven so successful that they installed the slow checkouts in 200 stores.

  • Texas universities propose two-year tuition freeze in exchange for nearly $1 billion in additional state fundingThe leaders of the state’s six biggest university systems are seeking the money to fund instruction, university operations and employee health insurance and to cover a free tuition program for veterans and their children.
  • It’s nice to see the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells no longer has broken windows. It’s a nice facelift.
