I don’t gamble or keep up with betting, and I don’t judge those who do. But I was shocked to learn you can now buy Texas Lottery tickets on your phone. I thought in conservative Texas, there would be some sort of protective barrier to prevent gambling addiction. It’s interesting how we can buy lottery tickets online but can’t buy alcohol on a Sunday before noon.
The new term “natty” for national championship drives me batty.
I keep thinking about this snippet from Bono’s book I’ve been reading, “My father told me in those final days that when accepting his cancers, he’d lost his faith, but he also told me that I should never lose mine.”
TCU is having a tough week when it comes to men’s sports. Last night I had the TCU and Texas basketball game on in the background as I read my Bono book. TCU had Texas’ number for most of the game (they led by 18), and almost pulled off the upset until the Longhorns came back.
I’ve never really been a breakfast person. Don’t get me wrong, I love breakfast food, and will eat it anytime of the day, I just don’t really eat during breakfast time.
Bacon is over-rated. It’s only great when crispy.
CBS Sunday Morning had a nice interview with Mark Cuban about him trying to disrupt the prescription drug market with transparent pricing. While it is a bit odd it’s named after him, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs, I like it how he said he wants to put his reputation on the line and cuts out the middleman to save money. It’s almost too good to be true.
Cost Plus deals directly with manufacturers and consumers, offering more profits for those who make drugs, and lower prices for those who take them. His prescription for pricing = the drug’s cost, plus 15% for Cost Plus, plus a $3 pharmacy fee, plus $5 shipping.
“Last weekend my kids asked me what it was like growing up in the ’80s. So, I took their phones and tablets off them, locked them outside and told them not to come back till the street lamps came on.“
A Dutch supermarket chain introduced slow checkouts for people who enjoy chatting, helping many people, especially the elderly, deal with loneliness. The move has proven so successful that they installed the slow checkouts in 200 stores.
Rebuilding your life is hard.
“There’s power in sharing.”
I really admire Prince Harry and will try to explain it later.
The Cowboys will wear Navy this week at Tampa Bay. It’s been so long since the last time they won a playoff game in the road jerseys, that they weren’t even Navy! pic.twitter.com/0GwDUaE5hy
I thought it was pretty cool how the local newscasts were all sporting purple to cheer on TCU. There’s nothing like a sense of community. But I do tire of the story about how they are this tiny rinky-dink private school. I just saw a promotion video in which the school showed off their very own helicopter used in recruiting.
I’m so glad college football decided to kick-off an hour earlier than normal.
The championship pregame used Keith Jackson’s voice. He was great at calling a game.
So this was the best college football had to offer? I doubt a Super Bowl or NFL playoff has ever been so lopsided. The lopsided score doesn’t even reflect how overpowered Georgia was.
As for the Baylor and TCU rivalry, I’m sure Baylor fans are basking in joy over TCU’s embarrassing play.
I hate that it is now a trend that newly crowned champions smoke cigars. It’s unhealthy and shows zero class.
Per my Google year in review, I visited 44 cities in 2022. That number seems small.
When I was young, I used to eat graham crackers dipped into hot tea for a snack. Actually, I still do, but I got to wondering if that was an odd thing for anyone to do. A quick search on The Google showed me that I’m not an oddity when it comes to this, and you can actually buy graham cracker flavored tea.
I wonder if everyone would be showcasing Damar Hamlin’s jersey number if it was 69.
I’ve started to read the Bono autobiography. It’s so neat to take a trip inside his head.
His emphasizes his relationship with Christ and his overall spirituality a lot more than I expected. He describes prayer as us drifting on a row boat and casting a rope to the shore and being pulled in.
The schools in his neighborhood would name themselves after people of cities in the Bible. So, you would have something like the Ephesians playing the Corinthians in soccer.
It’s well known his father was Catholic and his mother protestant. Each attended a separate church. But what I found interesting was that both churches shared the same name. For instance, both were called St. Canice’s.
Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ Sequel ‘Resurrection’ to Begin Production This Spring
Resurrection’ would focus on the twenty-four hours encompassing Jesus’ passion and the events that occurred three days between his crucifixion and resurrection. The cast will star Jim Caviezel who will reprise the role of Jesus, Maia Morgenstern as Mary, Christo Jivkov as John, and Francesco De Vito as Peter.
I’m somewhat interested in the Night Court reboot. Melissa Rauch plays the daughter of Harry Stone and is the new judge. It premieres on NBC on Tuesday, January 17. It’s a shame that both Markie Post and Harry Anderson are gone. I always got a kick out of how Post’s character was obsessed with the British Royal Family, which would make for some timely jokes now. I wonder if Bull (Richard Moll) will make an appearance. He turns 80 next week. Per IMDB, he hasn’t worked since 2018. If you ever wondered exactly how tall he is, he’s 6′ 8″.
I think I’m going to read Prince Harry’s new book.
The first thing I think about when I hear “Great Salt Lake” is Alton Brown. He was the judge on some cooking show and answered a question with a condescending, “All salt is sea salt.” I sat back in my chair and pondered that for a while, and concluded he’s wrong since we can get salt from the Great Salt Lake.
The 16-year-old version of me would have put this on my Grand Am in a heartbeat. It would be one step closer to me becoming Michael Knight and my car becoming KITT. https://twitter.com/butushop/status/1598694504982228992
