  • It was pretty interesting that both prime time sporting events were both in St Louis last night, but I have a feeling most of those at the Rams games would have rather been watching baseball.
  • Man, David Ortiz is having one heck of a series at the plate, I think he’s 11-15.
  • My father had me very late in life and was a longtime smoker, so he wasn’t in great health most of my life and I can’t recall doing anything athletic with him, even playing catch.  Last night DaughterGeeding asked me to “coach” her to kick a soccer ball and play catch and not only did I jump at the opportunity, I cherished every second of it.
  • BoyGeeding walked in on me peeing (in the toilet this time) and when I finished he asked me to do more.  I told him there is no more, and then he just started to cry and whine.  A lot of times he’ll walk in on me working out and when I finish a set or get off the elliptical he’ll also ask me to do more, and a lot of times despite being barely alive, I do it for him.
  • The Obama Administration has done a terrible job at educating the public about ACA and healthcare.gov is an embarrassment, heck, even I think they should delay things up to a year.
  • Rumor has it if you look at the healthcare.gov code it’s copied straight from an old GeoCities website.
  • I had a lot of concerns that the Wall Street Journal would lose a lot of journalistic integrity when Rupert Murdoch’s New Corp acquired them.   Well, now they have Suzanne Somers as a somewhat regular contributor labeling her an expert.  Her latest article is title “The Affordable Care Act Is a Socialist Ponzi Scheme.”  Too bad John Ritter isn’t alive to write a dissenting view.
  • Vermont is designing nation’s first universal health-care system
  • Highland Park Presbyterian Church will be moving from the PCUSA to a more conservative denomination, and I expect my church will do the same in the somewhat near future.  I am bugged by the interim senior pastor’s quote of, “we are not walking away from our Presbyterian values; we are restoring them.”  That just sounds like a passive or indirect way of saying that those who disagree with you have no values.
  • Organized religion drives me batty sometimes.  That being said, in an effort to better understand and appreciate different views and theology, I can see myself switching to another denomination every five years or so, but that’s harder now with family.  We did visit our local Methodist church a few weeks ago, and that was only because DaughterGeeding attends preschool there and they had a special event on a Sunday for her class, but it did leave an impression on me.  But to be honest, I can also see myself leaving organized relgion all together.
  • Troy Aikman still wants to punch Skip Bayless over something similar – Former Redskins player Dexter Manley calls Troy Aikman a gay slur
  • What’s so great about the Old MacDonald GEICO commercial is that the audience knows he’s going to misspell the word with e-i-e-i-o, but it’s his dagnabbit that puts it over the top.
  • DFW is home to the breastraunt, now there’s a seafood option in the West End.
  • Here Are the Best Team-Specific Bars in Dallas to Watch Football
  • Sometimes it’s fun to check out the 25 most read pieces on Wikipedia on a weekly basis.  I’m glad they add a few comments on why that those entries are so popular.
  • 38% of Americans say that they have done something because God told them to
  • Nail Salon Lets Men Watch Sports While Getting Manicures
  • Dick Cheney cancels Toronto trip, says Canada is too dangerous

  • WifeGeeding baked cookies for the nursery workers at our church and wrapped them in in cute Halloween packages.  They were quite thankful for the gift and one of them handed WifeGeeding a prayer request to put in the offertory tray, which is one of many ways people at our church will ask for prayers.  The prayer request was that the nursery worker was just diagnosed with stage four kidney failure due to her diabetes.  WifeGeeding then felt regret for giving her those cookies.
  • Our pastor, from my understanding, does not support same sex marriage.  But he did make a point I never really put together, homosexuals aren’t asking the church to recognize their marriage, just the government.  He went on to state how the government should never interfere with what the church chooses to recognize.  His bigger point in his sermon is that Christians need to treat the marriage ceremony as a worship experience instead of a typical occasion/event and to understand the significance of marriage based on a dedication to Christ.
  • The First Church of Christ Scientist in Dixon, Illinois has an interestingly shaped building.
  • I wonder how Red Sox fans feel about Joe Buck, son of legendary Cardinals announcer and current St Louis resident, broadcasting the World Series.  I bet they think there’s a lot of biased announcing
  • Thankfully NFL teams took it easy with pink this weekend.
  • With 1:33 left in the Cowboys/Lions game, the Cowboys had a 99% win probability.
  • Yup, the loss stunk, but there wasn’t a Cowboys fan on the planet that didn’t see that coming after what we’ve seen since Parcells has left.  I also have to give Stafford credit for seeing the Dallas linebackers out of place and pulling a quarterback sneak, it was gutsy and beautiful.
  • How great is the football mind of Jerry Jones?  He was more worried about Reggie Bush than Calvin Johnson.
  • The biggest surprise that came out of that Dez Bryant rant was the anger on DeMarcus Ware’s face as he grabbed Bryant by the collar of his shoulder pads.  Ware is a heck of a defensive player, but he seems as gentle as that guy on the Green Mile.
  • Jerry Springer Will Host Price is Right Live! in Dallas
  • Just a GIF of a bird feeding a dog noodles
  • I watched this GIF of a tiger waking up about ten times, those eyes are so interesting.
  • Johnny Manziel is well known for his partying problems off the field and you would think the Aggies would do want they can to help Manziel distance from that reputation.  Nope, they decided to tape an interview with him and ask who he would like to party with and broadcast it to all of Kyle Field.  At least he gave a pretty good answer with Charlie Sheen and Rob Gronkowski.
  • Baylor climbs to number six in the nation despite playing against the weakest of opponents.  College football is amazing.  But come next Thursday, I may have to give Baylor their due when Oklahoma comes to town for their first real test.
  • A great costume for you Texas Tech fans.
  • I don’t recall any outdoor football games being postponed for weather when I was a kid.
  • I always thought it was a big mistake for the White House to accept and take ownership of the label Obamacare for the Affordable Care Act.  If someone hates Obama, they are going to hate something with his name attached to it just as much.  I guess that’s why I had a dream the other night of the first debate between Romney and Obama.  In that debate Romney referred to the ACA as Obamacare and then asked Obama if it was OK if he used that term, and Obama accepted ownership.  In my dream, Obama responded differently by stating if that Romney wanted to cite authorship, then he should refer to it as Romneycare.
  • I don’t think there could be a worst start to Obamacare.  It’s like someone lost a bet or chose dare in Truth or Dare.
  • Would the Tea Party be as strong or popular today if McCain didn’t pick Sarah Palin as his running mate?  I’ve felt she’s been the catalyst and start of the movement.
  • A great Coming to America costume.
  • I wonder how many people notice the main difference between a college and NFL football . . . the NFL balls doesn’t have any white stripes.
  • No one is really a grown up. They just act old because they have to.
  • A $1.5 billion development is going up at 75/George Bush in Richardson.
  • After 20-and-a-half-months, BoyGeeding got his first haircut over the weekend.
