I’ve seen a lot of touching videos as of late of the emotional impact to a special needs or critically ill child scoring a touchdown or hitting a jump-shot, but I don’t recall those stories showing how special that moment really was to the team.
DFW Airport security checkpoint revamp aims to make screening more friendly
(CBS News) Airports around the country are working to upgrade your experience at security checkpoints. It’s part of a project to make the screening process a little more friendly.
at Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport, the checkpoint has some subtle differences that officials at the airport hope will make for a better experience for travelers and for the benefit of the airport itself, CBS News’ Anna Werner reports.
It’s not your standard airport security checkpoint, to be sure — there’s a little mood lighting for your wait in line, and even indicators to tell you how long your wait in line will really be. It’s the new look at one Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport checkpoint — where executives say it’s all about a better “checkpoint experience.”

- At last James Taylor didn’t start off singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ last night. For those of unaware, he was scheduled to sing both the national anthem and ‘America the Beautiful’ and before the start of the game he started with ‘America the Beautiful’ before quickly switching back to the national anthem.
- SI.com does a great job of citing competitors articles/reports as if it’s almost an endorsement. ESPN.com does a great job of citing ESPN.
- On the ‘Big Bang Theory’ Penny works at the Cheesecake Factory but her uniform and the restaurant look nothing like the Cheesecake Factory.
- Bob Villa stated that the best project for a beginner is putting shelving in a closest, so if you mess up, no one will really know and there’s a lot of skills involved such as measuring, cutting, painting, nailing, etc.
- I have a feeling this photo of four rulers of England will become iconic.
- I get annoyed when politicians on both sides say “The American people want . . .” A lot of times I, as an American, disagree with what they say Americans want. Come on, stop painting with such a wide brush. But I don’t get annoyed when I hear people say, “We want our country back” because I’ve heard both sides use that phrase and to me, it’s just a way of encouraging like-minded people to vote.
- If you wonder what I do for a living, it’s my responsibility to make sure websites and applications assigned to me don’t become an embarrassment like healthcare.gov. The one I’m working on presently generates $2.8 billion.
- The Marines are considering a new kind of unisex hat. All the conservative websites state it’s Obama’s idea but the mainstream media doesn’t state the idea came straight from the Commander in Chief. Stars and Stripes addresses the rumor, but I suppose some folks think Obama ordered that article to be written as a cover-up.
- It’s funny seeing other nations, our allies, act surprised as if we they didn’t already know that we’ve been spying on them, and it’s not as if they haven’t been spying on us. I mean, we’ve all seen the James Bond and Jason Bourne movies. Huh, that’s the first time I put together both of those characters have the initials JB. Oh, and we’ve all seen the Jack Ryan movies as well. Speaking of Jack Ryan, I had no idea the character is making a comeback this January with Chris Pine.
- Growing up in San Antonio is tough – A South Texas woman has been accused of ripping her 6-year-old son’s genitals during a rage and trying to repair the wound with glue.
