Thanks to everyone for all your well wishes, we’re very thankful.
It may make absolutely no sense, but being a father still doesn’t feel real to me.
Biggest shock after birth – how friggin’ hairy our baby is, there’s all sorts of small dark hair in places that surprise me.
The staff at Las Colinas Medical Center were just superb. It was a pleasant surprise at how involved they made me as part of the experience. That being said, I saw everything, and there are some things I will never unsee.
WifeGeeding was nothing but trooper through the entire process. She started to experience contractions early last Sunday morning, but we didn’t leave the house to go to the hospital until 9:oo pm. When we got there, the nurse thought it was going to be a false alarm since we were first timers, but then she checked WifeGeeding and said,”Girlfriend, we are keeping you. You did all the work at home, you’re at 7 centimeters.”
I think WifeGeeding did about two full hours of hard pushing, and yes, she did have an epidural.
I kept the weight and height a secret because my manager at work like to play the guessing game with the team, but she weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.
DogGeeding and OtherDogGeeding don’t really seem interested in BabyGeeding.
WifeGeeding delivered at 4:36 am on Sunday but didn’t go home until Wednesday afternoon, which seemed like a long time.
When I’m out in public and I hear a baby crying, I’m easily annoyed, but have learned it’s much different when it’s your own child.
Breast milk sure does have a sweet taste to it.
So far we’ve been pretty lucky, she’s a pretty good sleeper and doesn’t cry all that much.
I installed the car seat all by myself without a problem, but still had a fireman check it out to make sure. Actually, WifeGeeding made me check with the fireman.
SisterGeeding really enjoys being an aunt. It was nice “her come down for a several days to help out. WifeGeeding’s mother is coming down today to hang out for a while.
BabyGeeding likes to crawl up my chest, which surprises me.
Had a friend call me on Saturday just to ask me what it was like to be a dad for about a week, that was very thoughtful of him.
We’re already running into health insurance billing issues. Urgh.
You know, it’s been liberating not surfing the web for an entire week.
I watched the last three minutes of th e Celtics/Lakers game and thought it was funny that ABC was having trouble censuring words. With less than a minute to go I heard the s-bomb and a “that’s my n—–.”
Remember that song “Whoomp There It Is”? There’s a rumor that Barack Obama is in there video, at the 1:01 mark. I have it cued up for you here, he’s the guy on the phone.
You were gone? 😉 Normally you post so much, there's too much to get through in a week. You could be gone for a month and I would still not be caught up.
Congrats on the larva. The dogs are not interested because it is technically not food.
TMI on a few things but overall love seeing you back. 🙂
As for hospital bills, took me 6 months to figure out each one and even then, still got a refund overpayment on one and a credit report ding on another for being unpaid for $15. I call the place but it's the wrong number. 2+ yrs later…still don't know who to pay off on that one. Good luck!
Oh goodness! Congratulations! I am so sorry that it took me this long to comment! I had to have an epidural recently myself, but not for a baby, for a leg… So I am trying to catch up on my favorites, as I have been blogless for a couple of weeks now! Congrats on BabyGeeding!
Oh I was going to also say, on the hairy-ness – I bet WifeGeeding had a lot of heartburn during her pregnancy if she was very hairy. There was a study that showed that women who had a lot of heartburn during their pregnancy had babies with more hair than those who did not have much heartburn!
Welcome back. And yes, we did notice you were gone :o) Glad things are going fairly smoothly over there.
Thought she was born at 4:36 on MONDAY morning!

She'll soon lose a lot of the hairiness.
