Bag of Randomness for Monday, May 23, 2022

  • After school on Friday, I drove the kids to a nearby Apple store to get DaughterGeeding’s new iPhone worked on. For some reason, she wasn’t able to send or receive replies from non-iPhone users. I made an appointment the prior evening, but the Apple store employee told me the appointment got cancelled and the wait would be over an hour. Confused as to how the appointment got cancelled, I voiced my displeasure, yet the Apple employee kindly asked what the issue was and asked for the iPhone. He fixed the problem in less than 90-seconds. I thanked him, explained how much I appreciated him quickly looking into the situation, and asked if I could speak to his manager to tell him how pleased I was with his service and professionalism. He told me a manager was unable to speak with me, so I thanked him again, told him I was going to the Apple website and was going to inform them of how great my experience was at that specific Apple store and with that specific person, which I did the second we ended our conversation.
  • After the Apple store, I was determined to get BoyGeeding a new pair of shoes. I took him to the store where we last bought his shoes. When we hit the shoe ailse, he said, “Dad, I found the perfect pair.” Funny enough, it was the same exact make and model (or whatever the proper terminology is). He found a pair which fit him, and that made it the third straight pair of these specific shoes he’s now owned. We were in and out of the store in less than ten-minutes. I have no idea why his mother couldn’t have done this.
  • Driving back to the rent house, DaughterGeeding started to talk about her upcoming birthday (May 31). Unexpectedly, BoyGeeding, sitting alone in the backseat, began crying. You could tell he was trying to keep it in and from being noticed. When I asked him what was wrong, he no longer tried to be reserved, openly broke down, and cried, “Sometimes I can’t help but think about how horrible my ninth birthday was!” I’m not sure if he has been suppressing or repressing his feelings about that traumatic experience. He rarely is open about his feelings when something is wrong. Mostly when something is wrong, and I ask him about it, he’s vague and won’t tell me, as if he’s trying to keep from being emotional. But this time, he openly expressed himself and didn’t hold back any tears. Despite my personal feelings, I made sure to validate his feelings while making sure not to place blame on anyone. I told him that no one indented for him to be hurt, that he’s loved, it wasn’t fair that it happened to him, he did nothing to cause it, and it will help him appreciate future birthdays.
  • I accidentally left comments on one of my posts the other day, and a few of you sounded off. Let me set the record straight on several things.
    • First, I don’t want any harm to happen to the mother of my children, especially a baseball hitting her head. What I wrote the other day was an attempt at humor. As Chris Rock said, “It was a GI Jane joke.” Chill, there’s no need to get out of your seat and slap me.
    • Second, I know why my ex left me. Yes, I see things differently. What I question is how she went about it. I question why was divorce the first and only option after 17-years of marriage. Why she couldn’t make it amicable when I told her at the start of this I wanted to keep it respectful and least costly as possible, and why she weaponized the children? It’s her actions which caused our children’s depression. Her admitted actions of infidelity caused my depression, which caused me to be upset in ways I wished I would have handled things better.
    • I question why these conservative Christian women think the government (in this case, a judge who doesn’t know our family), knows what’s best for our children. Her order was very similar to a divorce decree in that it said we could mutually on things outside of the decree. So, if the children wanted to spend more time at their home with their father, and the judge felt comfortable enough to grant him time with the with children unsupervised, why wouldn’t she allow it?
    • I don’t understand why the first time I ever heard her claim she felt controlled or manipulated, or even wanted out of the marriage, was in front of a judge, as opposed to over the phone or even a text.
    • What’s the reason to break a covenant with God and a promise to love someone for the rest of their life and stick with him through thick and thin, only to abandon that person when he had an emotional breakdown after her admission of infidelity and him lose 25 unexpected pounds within a month? She left this guy when he was vulnerable and needed her most. Did she really want something to happen to the father of her children, and explain to them she could have saved him if she wanted but chose to turn her back and walk away?
    • I’m not questioning why she left, I’m questioning why did she abandon her integrity and go nuclear when it was only a knife fight. If she knew she was going to have to deal with this man for the next eight years, and more than likely the rest of their lives (both will still be involved with the kids when they are adults and they’re gonna have to work with each other as grandparents), why set such a precedent being so combative and aggressive?
    • Why won’t she agree to meet with a third-party and have a single discussion?
    • If you don’t like what you are reading, don’t visit this website. I don’t care what your definition of manliness is. I’m not just going to write about the good stuff in my life, it’s not how any of us grow.

I can write with my feet. I can do pretty much anything that you ask of me. So to then have somebody single me out and put a limit on me, I knew that isn’t just humiliating. It’s wrong.
