Your insightful comment made me do a bit of research. My guess was that this was similar to the Grand Canyon Skywalk <a href="http:// (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon_Skywalk),” target=”_blank”> <a href="http://(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon_Skywalk),” target=”_blank”>(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon_Skywalk), something the Hualapai Tribe did on their land to make some money and expose people to another area of the Grand Canyon. But none of my research lead to anything to support this. Actually, I couldn't find anything relating to who granted permission. My only guess is that the city of Moab OK'd this to get some exposure.
Thanks for the response. My fear is that we are just a short step away from having McDonald's signs on Mount Rushmore or Ford signs at the Grand Canyon. Maybe "Old Faithful brought to you by Viagra."
I would like to know how anyone gets permission to deface a natural site with all that contraption. Unless it is on private property.
