This is a really fascinating technology that Disney has been using for a couple of years now in their pre-fireworks show. They do projection mapping on Cinderella Castle, and essentially use the entire structure as a canvas. It's a pretty amazing effect, as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ-m5DQrtKw
My favorite effect (which is even better live) is at about the 6:55 mark, when an entire spire of the castle "blasts off" to infinity…and beyond!
It's really neat to see this technology writ small, though. Although I shudder to think of the bridal anger that will be unleashed if someone bumps the cake table by even an inch, and thereby throws off the projection mapping completely.
