  • We went to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science yesterday.  The facility and everything in it is great, but we went at the wrong time of year because I think every school district in the state of Texas and Oklahoma was there.  While there is one area specially set aside for little children, I don’t think this was a good place to take toddlers.  But hey, as parents, you give things a try, you live, you learn, and turn any frustrations into memories to laugh at later down the road.
  • Parking for the museum was under the Woodall Rodgers overpass, which seemed like a great way to utilize space and it provides great shade for your vehicle.  As you approach the building there’s some great big signage telling you where to park, but we found the main entrance a bit hard to find.
  • Speaking of the museum: Perot Museum of Nature and Science Partners with National Geographic Society
  • I’ve always wanted to try Fuel City Tacos, mainly because D Magazine is always ranting and raving about them (#27), so since we were in the area it was time to give them a try.  The tacos were good, but not great.  Perhaps one of the selling points is price, I think each taco was a buck forty.
  • It’s always a bit weird driving out of downtown Dallas and taking that last stretch that the Kennedy motorcade took.  Everytime I take that route I imagine what it would be like to be the driver of that limo and seeing how long it would take me to get to the Parkland Hospital exit, and it’s always a longer drive than I’d expect it.
  • Forbes has updated their list of the World’s Most Powerful Women, I was familiar with all the top five except for Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
  • Students upset to discover yearbook photos were altered to show less skin
  • I’m surprised Vimeo doesn’t have more of a following for hosting videos as the quality of streaming is better and there’s less adverting, but I guess people just don’t want to switch from one platform to another.
  • GIF – A goblin shark’s bite looks alien like.
  • Sean Lee’s fight with the injury bug reminds me of former Cowboys receiver Mike Sherrad.  He showed a lot of promise early in his career but kept getting injured, and I thought the guy really couldn’t catch a break when he was rehabbing jogging on a beach and breaking a tibia and shin bone.
  • I had no idea that attorney Jim Adler spoke angry Spanish so well.
  • An interesting read: Rick Perry’s Wild Plan to Take Jobs From Blue States – It’s so crazy, it just might work – One criticism I have about the article is that it failed to mention recent company moves, like Toyota North America’s move from San Fran to Plano.

Thanks for the quiz! I only got 17, so I guess I have more work to do…

  2. RPM says:

Be sure to wish Miss Geeding a Happy Birthday!

  3. Sara says:

The Mike Judge movie Extract does an awesome parody of the "El Martillo Tejano". Apparently it's a character from Beavis and Butthead.

  4. DF of LL says:

Just FYI, the shin bone and the tibia are the same bone. There is a lesser, non-weight bearing bone call the fibula that parallels the tibia from the knee to the ankle.

You'll need to cover for me in the ER tomorrow.
