  • The NFL ended last year with some awkwardness trying to figure out what to do to fill air time during the Superbowl blackout.  Now they start the first game of the season with a a Ryan Seacrest introduction with cheerleaders dancing behind him, a video countdown comprised of former players ending with fireworks only to delay the game for an eon.  It was so weird seeing all that energy built up only to tell everyone to go to chill mode.
  • I guess another way to put it . . . last game, not enough electricity, this one, too much.  I have to give credit to Twitter for that one.
  • I had a friend say that if Denver kept Tebow the game would have started on time.
  • I wonder if both coaches gave a big start of the season motivational speech only to have the players go back and wait it out in the locker rooms.
  • Baltimore had a really cool video display in the harbor.  It consisted of water sprayed into the air with video projected on to it.
  • NFL read-option quarterbacks like Russell WIlson, RGIII, and Colin Kaepernick can be hit like ball-carrying running backs, even if they don’t have the ball.  That’s something to consider for all you fantasy guys out there.  Meanwhile, non-mobile quarterback Peyton Manning threw seven touchdowns last night.
  • I gave Fox Sports Live a shot last night.  It’s their version of Sports Center on the new Fox Sports 1 network.  My biggest complaint is their screen has too much going on at one time, it’s total information overload.
  • Jason Witten’s wife sure is in a lot of commercials.
  • What’s the over/under of the Cowboys still playing “Sweet Home Alabama” at their home games this year?
  • Does Dallas have a fancy place where there are restroom attendants to hand out towels and stuff?
  • Apparently there’s some sort of rift between Baylor and their alumni association with a vote taking place this weekend.  You have to be there in person to vote, so my mother-in-law will be on campus to cast her vote.
  • WifeGeeding has three different eye doctors for three different eye “things”.  We visited one of them yesterday, and no doctor has better bed side manners than Dr. Gilliland.  WifeGeeding has always had bad eye sight in her one functioning eye, but amazingly it has corrected itself to 20/20.
  • WifeGeeding says whenever she radio surfs in the car she finds that 102.9 plays Mumford and Son’s “I Will Wait”.  I’ve also found that to be true, and DaugnterGeeding loves to sing it.
  • WifeGeeding has a friend who has a very large one-year-old girl.  Her friend almost lost it when a cashier said, “Ain’t no one gonna mess with mess with her, she’s gonna be a BIG woman.”
  • For those of you that thought the RV parked at my Mexican neighbor’s was there to stay, you may be right.  Here’s a picture of it.  I just recently noticed that it has “Intruder” on the back of it, and if you look closely, you can see the large crack under the name and the foamed up vents.
  • Here’s a cool camera that will take a spherical picture of what’s around you instead of what’s just in front of you.
  • I posted a picture of a stapler in jello back in 2007 and linked back to the webpage.  Last night I got an email stated that the photo was incorrectly credited and asked to update that post.  Normally I’d just delete the post entirely but the guy was so nice about it that I did as he asked.
  • I’m not a Sarah Silverman fan, but she wrote a touching and funny tribute to her dog who recently had to be put down.  I was able to totally relate to the limp head fall she references.
  • Arizona State is honoring Pat Tillman in a very cool way.  I’ve always liked Sun Devil Stadium.
  • Meh – ROBOCOP – Official Trailer (2014)
  • Kevin Sorbo and Dean Cain (Hercules and Superman) star in a Christian film – God’s Not Dead

  1. I'm not sure, because a trailer could include only the best parts of a movie, but I think that "God's not dead" movie might be the best Christian movie that isn't a Bible story (like the Passion) I've ever seen.

It sounds like a real discussion of the rationality of Christianity with a real 3-dimensional character, played by Sorbo. Then again, it might just be full of easy answers and poor reasoning, but I hope the former.

You should know that I have a B.A. in Philosophy, an M.Div., and am a Christian, so I believe that the existance of God is a rational thing. I think there are very good reasons to believe He exists, not the least of which is my experience with Him as a being who can interact with us.

I've been watching Crowd Goes Wild on FS1. I originally tuned in to see Regis Philbin back on the air, but it's interesting enough I became a daily viewer. Sort of reminds me of the old SportsNation, with Colin & Michelle.
