We took a family trip to our local DQ yesterday evening and I discovered you can now get a Blizzard in a cone.  I decided to give it a try, but was disappointed because my cone was stale.   While there a few questions about DQ came up so I decided to check out their Wikipedia page and found some interesting stuff, especially since I think of it as such a Texas institution.

  • The first Dairy Queen store opened in 1940 in Joliet, Illinois.
  • The company’s corporate offices are located in Edina, Minnesota.
  • The state with the most Dairy Queen restaurants is Texas.
  • It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
  • The first store in Canada opened in Estevan, Saskatchewan, in 1953.
  • In 1987, DQ bought the Orange Julius chain.
  •  The busiest store in the US is in Rosedale, Maryland.
  • The largest DQ in the world was built in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • The busiest DQ in the world is located in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

  1. The Donald says:

The DQ on N Oak in MW = Very Good.

The one on E First/Hubbard, not so much.
