    It must have taken forever to trace the boundaries in the early centuries. It was interesting to see how many times England grabbed and then lost pieces of Wales, Ireland and Scottland. The history of the German Empire is mind numbing. I don't know how a German historian could ever hope to keep track of all the myriad of little principalities that came and went before the creation of the German state. Also until recent times, Bohemia and Hungary were huge. Then Bohemia just evaporated and Hungary drastically and quickly shrunk to present day size
