Bag of Randomness

  • On my way to teach class the other night I realized that I forgot my wallet, and the worst part, I haven’t eaten dinner.  Because I usually operate cashless using only my debit card, I really didn’t have much change in my car, but luckily I was able to find enough money to take advantage of Wendy’s dollar menu.
  • Diane Sawyer is a traveling woman – one day she was in Afghanistan and the next day she’s in Haiti.
  • Last night she said the first country to arrive in Haiti to help was China – which I found very interesting.
  • As heartbreaking as an event this is, it is amazing to see how the world is willing to pitch in and help.
  • And I know you’ve heard this about a hundred times, but you can text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to to the Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti.
  • It usually always happens the first day of class, because it’s all adults, but everyone thinks I’m a student.  I think I need some gray hair, and I have a feeling that’s coming soon.
  • The City of Dallas has a new promotional video about the city that has a bunch of local celebrities in it, but I didn’t expect to see Vanilla Ice [2:19], or Spud Webb with a football [1:56] , or second string TE Martellus Bennett.
  • Some schools are barely funded, and some schools are looking to buy an $800,000 scoreboard for their football team.
  • While I was in the car I caught a little bit of the Republican governor candidates in their debate.  It seemed they had the opportunity to actually ask each other questions, which was kinda cool, but it  seemed to be mainly accusation after accusation, and as expected, there was a lot of bitterness towards each other and lots of blaming Washington for everything.
  • I think Perry is once again going to win, mainly because we are a conservative state that seems to be doing pretty darn well for the most part, so most folks aren’t going to see a reason for change.
  • I know people mean well, but the next person that tells me my daughter is going to have me wrapped around her little finger I’m going to reply back with a message that only requires the use of one finger.
  • When I heard about the death of Teddy Pendergrass, the only song I could remember of his was “One Shining Moment” which CBS always played at the conclusion of the NCAA mens championship basketball game.  They played Pendergrass’ version for the longest time, but now they play Luther Vandross’.
  • Other notable death, the SpaghettiO’s creator.
  • In case of nuclear attack, comfort the dying.
  • Proceed with caution – Medical Assistance Models – no real human nudity, just weird looking mannequin kind of stuff.
  • Sarah Palin likes the default answer of all of them, in this interview that was her answer for her favorite Founding Father, the same one she gave about what newspapers she likes to read.
  • Speaking of Sarah Palin, I had a dream I ran into her shopping at Wal-Mart, but she had shorter hair.
  • A collection of every video game console – I think each console is clickable.
  • Woman keeps pet snowball for 33 years
  • A tape dispenser that will actually tear straight
  • I think I like Baltimore, San Diego, Dallas, and Arizona this weekend.
  • For you Lost fans that have DirecTV there’s a special behind the scenes episode on the 101.
  • WifeGeeding and I watched 500 Days of Summer recently, I’d recommend it.  That Zooey Deschanel sure is captivating.
  • Watching the Leno and O’Brien monologues have been pretty darn entertaining and interesting as of late, a lot of low blows.
  • Leno had a segment on his show that looked a whole lot like Letterman’s Stupid Human Tricks.
  • And what was Leno thinking having Jimmy Kimmel on the show, all Kimmel did was insult the guy.  It was great.

I found it interesting to read that l relief effort teams ie had trouble getting to Haiti, finding a landing space, etc, however all the major news channels had no problems sending someone to cover the situation live. I think Ann Curry and Al Roker were on the scene before doctors without boarders.
