Bag of Randomness

  • The Cowboys gave me a feeling I haven’t felt in 4,761 days.
  • I thought it was kind of cool seeing George W congratulate Jerry.
  • The play of the game in my opinion, Wade’s challenge
  • I think Dallas’ D is playing lights out, but seeing what Baltimore did to New England should scare the crap out of any offensive coordinator.
  • Felix Jones, please stay healthy.
  • Who deserves a contract extension for the Cowboys the most?  That would be strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek.  The Cowboys didn’t have anyone on the injury report for the first game of the playoffs.
  • Jerry Jones should use a more recent picture.  Actually, all of the Jones family pictures need updating.
  • Demarcus Ware’s last sack of the night was a thing of beauty.  He looked like a lion that was able to catch up with its prey.
  • Romo becomes only the seventh quarterback in team history to win a playoff game, joining  . . . answer appears at the last bullet point.
  • Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison really don’t do much for me when the talk on NBC.  But I do think Cris Collinsworth and Al Michaels are the best cover team in football, second best is Buck and Aikman, and I’m not a fan of Phil Sims.
  • I may be the only person not related to Joe Thiesman that likes it when he announces a football game.  His former head coach, not so much.
  • Sanchez over Palmer, Romo over McNabb, Flacco over Brady. Who would have thought?
  • I like the NFL overtime rules just as they are.
  • Here’s a good football debate . . . who’s the better linebacker, Lawrence Taylor or Ray Lewis?  As much as it pains me, I think I would say Ray Lewis.
  • Twitter sure is fun to follow while the playoffs are on.
  • I watched The Wrestler this weekend.  Very predictable storyline, lacked in creativity, but good acting.
  • I didn’t know the Von Erich family‘s real last name was Adkisson.
  • During The Rock’s heyday in the WWE, I bet none of his fans would have thought he would one day become the Tooth Fairy.
  • Dang, this weekend was full of news.  Tech gets a new head coach, Pete Carroll leaves USC, and the buzz around the new Game Change book is just amazing, just ask Senator Harry Reid, not to mention the latest Leno news.
  • I have to give credit to Leno for trying something news, but man, NBC just has no idea how to gracefully handle the changing of the guard when it comes to the Tonight Show.
  • I called a friend over the weekend to wish him a happy birthday and anniversary (he was married on his birthday) and he asked “if my dog was still around.”  That just sounded strange.
  • Definitely cooler than GoogleMaps
  • Gary Lawson was on The Simpsons last night, awesome!
  • For women you don’t want to carry a wallet or purse – the Cleavage Caddy
  • I’m not a fan of putting together puzzles.
  • Chris Hall, the center for the University of Texas had a choice of pursuing an NFL career or to go to seminary, he chose seminary.  His favorite actor is also Kirk Cameron.
  • Speaking of actors and the University of Texas . . . back in 2006, Robert DeNiro donated his film collection to the university.  I’m not sure about his connection to UT, and out of all of colleges he could have donated his collection to, I certainly wouldn’t have thought of UT.  But here’s a short film about what’s in the collection, which is a nice bit of Americana.
  • Is it just me, or does the new Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser movie look like a made-f0r-tv-movie?
  • Highly impressive – this video is all CGI, nothing is real.
  • Bacon in Jamaica
  • And the answer to all the Dallas Cowboys QB’s that have won a playoff game: Staubach, Aikman, Don Meredith, Craig Morton, Danny White and Steve Beuerlein.

Congratulations to the Cowboys and their fans. A playoff win was long overdue for you TRUE Cowboys fans. I would wish you and your team good luck next week, but I love the story-book season Brett Favre is in line for. But the Cowboys proved without doubt that they are the best team in the NFC East, at least this season. We'll see how next season goes!

I think it will be interesting to see what the Cowboys do against a healthy offensive line.

You really like the NFL's overtime rules? Man, I hate them. Of course I am a huge college football fan so I may be a little biased.

I agree Wade's throwing the challenge flag was big! I was listening on the radio and the announcers initially said that there was no way that the play would be over turned. This play could have been a game changer for the Eagles. The Cowboys had more cameras to view and were brilliant in advising Wade to challenge.
I hope the cleavage caddy catches on.
I didn't think Collingsworth would be good as an analyst. I was use to seeing him as a goofball on the pre-game and half-time shows. He is actually a great replacement for Madden. I don't miss Madden at all now. Collingworth is not afraid to call them as he sees them and is very informative.
The Leno solution is no solution at all. I can't see how any of the three will be happy with it
