Bag of Randomness

  • Last night was a really busy night, so as far as blogging goes, this is all you are going to get today.
  • It really irks me when I hold a door open for a girl and I get no acknowledgment of thanks whatsoever.
  • There’s a big Brett Farve fan in Dallas.  I snapped this picture on I35 heading home.

In case you can’t read it, it says “Farve ’08”
  • I had a college roommate that proudly displayed all of his Transformers in our room.
  • It’s hard to eat right.
  • When I was in high school I visited a friends house.  He lived on a dairy farm, and I helped him with his chores one day.  That was the first and only time I castrated a bull.
  • That Transformers roommate use to tell me, “Once you milked a bull, you have a friend for life.
  • I heard an author on television state that Republicans tend to live far apart from others and Democrats tend to live in more populous areas.  That kind of makes sense if you look at the electoral map.
  • ExxonMobile is based probably less than ten miles from my house yet I have never met anyone that works there.
  • WifeGeeding made mention that she wants to watch season one of the X-Files.  I was a big fan back in the day.  My favorite episode was “Bad Blood.”
  • My 17 mile commute to Love Field everyday is probably one of the busiest commutes in the nation and I find it a little shocking that I really don’t see any Obama or McCain bumper stickers as of late.
  • Speaking of bumper stickers, I really like the one Barry posted on his blog.
  • I wonder if the election is going to get nasty.
  • There’s a magazine rack in the men’s restroom at work.
  • I think I might start posting random pictures from work everyday, there’s a lot of interesting stuff.
  • I’m always impressed with the show Modern Marvels.  They can take a mundane topic like “water” and make it fascinating.
  • I never thought in my lifetime I would see the FDIC have to save a bank.
  • I have never watched an episode of the Andy Griffith Show or Lavern and Shirley, but I always watched the introductions to those shows.
  • I’m not use to the new lights we installed in the bathroom.  Every time I turn them on I get blinded because I’m use to the dim lights we had previously.
  • I wonder who will pick their running mate first.  I bet it’s McCain to stir up some buzz.
  • I like to say the word onomatopoeia.
  • In college I use to DJ some of our school’s dances.  Actually, since it was a Baptist school, they had to be held off campus and were called foot-functions.  From my understanding, dancing is now allowed on campus.
  • I’ve used the same two pillows all my life.  I’m trying to find a replacement, but I’m not having any luck.
  • My two closest friends at work are an Aggie and a Sooner.  Both think they are going to win the Big 12.  I’m betting on the maroon team . . . . from the north.
  • Another college roommate of mine is currently a manager at a car rental facility in San Antonio.  He mentions every time Barry Switzer comes to town he rents the cheapest car.
  • I think Ted Koppel should be the next host of Meet The Press.  From my understanding, he still lives in DC.
  • I recall an old cartoon posted on a professor’s office wall  (in Abilene Hall for those of you in the know) that read, “The clashing of opinions is the sound of democracy.”  That has always stuck with me.

Thoughts on thoughts: 1) “Eating Right” – Buy fruit and make a pact with yourself to always eat a piece of fruit before you eat a snack. The fruit will fill you up and you’ll skip the snack. 2) “…if the election is going to turn nasty” – Don’t worry about that, Bush’s old team from 2000 are now working for McCain. 3) “I never thought I’d live to see the FDIC have to save a bank” – Back in the late 1980’s, over 100 S&Ls and banks failed in Texas alone and the FDIC and RTC had to step in to liquidate and sell them.4) “Ted Koppel “– I believe I read that Koppel was one of the first choices and he turned it down – he’d be a good choice though 5)” Bret Favre” – I wonder how Packer fans will react to having to pay him an extra $20 million to stay retired – seems it could have been better spent on an additional quality player or two

Send the troops- any Aveeno product but, esp. shave cream and body soap, synthetic poofs, high quality multi blade razors, AA batteries, medium and fine point black gel pens, beef jerky, any sports drink mix besides lime Gatorade, sport type deodorants, protein/energy bars, Dublin dr depper, BOOKS esp. sci-fi and fantasy, true crime and history, magazines, Febreeze.
This is the stuff they’ll never forget. Practical but, hard to get over there.
