Update: BagOfNothing.com Christmas Card Experiment 2.1 – Your chance to help fight lupus

My third Christmas card came in the mail today and it’s from Nathan and Nancy of New York City – they were nice enough to mention that they made a donation to help fight lupus.  With a total of three cards, that’s $3 I’ll donate to help fight lupus.

Nathan and Nancy, thanks for the card, donation, and being a loyal BON reader!

So that’s one card from Texas, one card from North Carolina, and one card from New York.

A small recap of the experiment of me trying to see if any of you are willing to send me a Christmas card:

Option 1:  You can make a direct donation to the Lupus Research Institute in memory of Kim Geeding.  Have the acknowledgement sent to my address, and I’ll consider that my Christmas card.  I’ve done some research, and out of all the lupus organizations I feel most comfortable with the Lupus Research Institute came out on top.

Option 2:  If you just want to send a card and no money, then I will total up all the cards received before Dec 25, and for each card donate a dollar (up to $50) to the Lupus Research Institute.  If you include any money, I’ll make sure to donate the funds directly to the Lupus Research Institute.

Send all cards to

Keith “BagOfNothing” Geeding
421 Vista Noche Dr
Lewisville, TX 75067-8345

Please be sure to include the “BagOfNothing” in the name so I know the card comes from a reader and not the dentist or plumber.

I have been reading (lurking) your blog for a year or so.
Don’t remember how I got here, but I look and read every day.
    Enjoy all your posts.
Your a Cowboy fan, I am a Packer fan. I have a son thats one too, so thats OK with me.
My MOM died of complications from Lupis in 95.
Stollen from My world, when the woman was never sick a day
in her life. She was 77. But the picture of health.
Devasted my life to where I ended up on Prozac for 3 months.
And that IS not the answer,
just medicated me enough to adjust to the loss.?
I lost my job due to that .
5 days Funeral Leave from the company? Yeah right.
Sitll a day does not go by, that I do not miss her.
Never heard of the disease at that time she was diagnosed.
It affected her spine and liver. Hospitalized 4 times. They released her from there, saying there was nothing more they could do and sent her home. I sat at her bed at home and she wanted me to to pray with her that she would not wake up in the morning. OMG!
She was in so much pain, Morphine in pill form when she was good enough to get out of hospitals. Morphiine weakens your heart after so many doses for long doses, thats why they don’t prescribe it often.
She died at her kitchen table from a heart attack, at the family farm in northern Wi. Suddenly.
God Bless you for doing what your doing for Lupus,
its a strange tragic desease which steals people we love.
and thanks for the every day good Internet reading.
Sorry I never sent a WI Christmas card,
I was just a Reader/Lurker up till now.
    But this touched my heartstrings.
I am so sorry for you and your loss.
Hugs to the unknown Internet guy, from nothern Wi.
Life takes turns we never want to drive thru, yet we are in the vehicle.
    God Bless.
    Sal
