- I got a letter from the electric company threatening to shut down service if I didn’t make a timely payment. That was a shocker because I always use billpay the day I get notification of the bill. After a little research, I confused the natural gas bill for the electric bill, and now I have a big credit on the natural gas bill.
- Man, it sure was nice of Texas Rangers Manager Ron Washington, GM Jon Daniels, and former Dallas Star Mike Modano to attend the funeral of 38-year-old sports writer Richard Durrett. That was a big day for Modano considering he was going to find out if he would actually make the Hockey Hall of Fame, so good for him.
- Our inspection sticker on the family SUV is about to expire, so this was news to me – As of March 2015, vehicles registered in Texas will no longer need separate vehicle inspection and registration stickers.

- Texas is considering deregulating respiratory therapists, X-ray technicians and medical physicists who calibrate MRI machines and other radiologic equipment. I don’t think I’m a fan of decreasing safety.
- ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ does a much better job of depicting the early 80’s than ‘The Americans’. One thing that recently stood out that reminded me of my early years was a push button stove top, similar to this one. Of course, most of our appliances had a lot of that pale green and yellow.
- Cowboys fans in Tyler decided to show their disapproval by purchasing a billboard that said “Tyler, TX is now Cleveland Browns territory, paid for by former Cowboys fans.”

- Letterman’s stage manager Biff Henderson came back to the show last night after getting knee replacement surgery. In all seriousness, he said the procedure was done without any stitching or staples. Instead, a special glue was used.
