Polyphonic overtone singing

overtone singing is a voice technique where it seems like one person sings two notes at the same time.
You can sing the overtone scale on one fundamental. Another fundamental has its own overtone scale, so in order to have more overtones to sing nice melodies, you can use different fundamentals and change them while singing.

the video is live, and every human being is able learn overtone singing 😉 ….well…not starting directly with polyphonic overtone singing…. but singing overtones on one fundamental isn’t too hard.

Bag of Randomness

  • DaughterGeeding was upset at WifeGeeding for cutting her fingernails because it impedes her ability to pick boogers.
  • DaughterGeeding also got her ears pierced this weekend without one tear shed.  However, after the kids were put in bed WifeGeeding did shed a few tears feeling her daughter is growing up faster than she thought.
  • The roof on AT&T Stadium was closed again and I have a theory.  When open, I bet the roof panels cover up the globe looking AT&T logos.  I have a feeling there’s something in the contract that states those logos must be visible, either always or a certain percentage of the games.
  • The Cowboys had to go to a silent count at home because of the number of Houston fans attending the game.  Sheesh.
  • Romo’s back looks just fine, just ask JJ Watt.  But who knows if it holds up.
  • Finally, a heart warming moment for the NFL – Patriots Give Touching Tribute To Opponent’s Daughter Who Is Battling Cancer
  • Katy Perry was on College Gameday which was at the Ole Miss campus.  She stated she was there because it’s where her manager or producer went to school and it would be her very first college football game to attend.  Considering they upset the number one team in the nation, that’s a pretty first game to attend.  Some folks thought Ole Miss fans over celebrated by taking the goal posts down and into an actual student’s apartment, saying that they should act like they’ve been there before.  Hey, they haven’t, let them have this moment.
  • One more College Gameday point, this sign about Bama fans made me laugh.
  • I was surprised at the number of empty seats at both the Texas and Michigan State stadiums.  Number ten Michigan State was hosting number nineteen Nebraska, in case you were wondering.
  • There’s going to be a number of one-loss teams for the new college football playoff, and sports talk radio personalities rejoice.
  • Rangers fans must have been happy with CJ Wilson’s performance yesterday.
  • I promise WifeGeeding has nothing to do with this – Someone emailed me that I’ve been avoiding any Baylor talk this year.  I have some really hot opinions about Art Briles and Baylor but will no longer voice them on this blog.  There are two Baylor fans I really love and respect that read this blog and I’m afraid my selfishness in criticising the coach and university may take away from their enjoyment, even in the smallest of ways.  I care for them more than I do any silly sports point I want to make.  (But the moment I find out they no longer read this blog, IT’S ON!)
  • While watching ’60 Minutes’ last night, I don’t think I’ve seen a government employee so well spoken as FBI Director James Comey.
  • Last week I mentioned that Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas must have been excited to get an ebola patient to showcase themselves on the world stage and then upset when they found they had a kink in their system.  Yesterday it was revealed that before this ebola event they were planning to host the judges of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award who were only planning to visit six health care organizations in the nation.
  • I have a friend that fears wooden spoons, he wouldn’t touch them for a million dollars.
  • WifeGeeding and I have been looking at our finances and have concluded we eat out way too much.  That’s certainly a “first world problem” when you consider how many around the world don’t even have any food to put on their table.  Heck, there’s plenty of American’s that have that problem.
  • When I was at my high school reunion I stated that I was proud of “Jessica” because she seems to be really happy with her life, considering she attempted suicide in high school and actually had the scars on her wrists to prove it.  The three people I was talking to started to shush me and then laugh saying that was another “Jessica” and the one that actually tried to commit suicide was sitting just a few seats away from me.  I knew they were wrong but none of them would believe me.  I’ve now verified it with two other friends, and I’m correct, but that doesn’t do anything to reverse that moment when the people I were talking to thought I put my foot in my mouth.
  • I actually thought this happened long ago – This Was the First Weekend in America With No Saturday Morning Cartoons‏
  • A nice little read on Christians who doubt.
  • I think it’s cheating if it’s only ashes and not the actual body, but it’s still cool – Coast Guard gives WWII vet a Viking funeral at sea
  • Kinda cool, and cost effective – USS Enterprise gives anchor to USS Lincoln
  • An interesting Jaws necklace
  • I know there’s no replacing Don Pardo, but Darrell Hammond really doesn’t have much of a delivery in his SNL intros.

  • The Geeding children flew a kite yesterday.  I was impressed they were able to do it by themselves considering they are ages two and four.
