Since the wound care doctor packed my wound on Monday, all my chronic ailments relating to the pain in my back came back. It was excruciating. But, when I saw the wound care doctor on Wednesday and he took off the bandage (which caused a bunch of pus to come out) and removed the packing, I gradually started to feel better and stronger. He said that since the wound was packed and the wound was basically taped and sealed, the pus had nowhere to go, so it built up pressure and that was causing my pain. This thing is going to take longer than I thought. I had to make appointments with them for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of next week. He said he would probably be applying a wound VAC to the wound. Oh, there’s still a concern I could be leaking spinal fluid, so I will see my neurosurgeon about that today.

I saw the wound care doctor yesterday. He was able to stick a probe in the incision/infection site 4.8 centimeters, and touch bone. He ended up packing the wound with some sort of fancy purple paper and asked me to come back on Wednesday and Friday to have the bandage changed.
I hope I will be well enough to attend the U2 concert in December. Here’s some amazing drone footage inside the Sphere.
“I don’t want to say goodbye, but I really cannot participate in the really toxic arms of this institution anymore,” she said, adding that she doesn’t know “if it’s forever or it’s just how I’m feeling in this current state.”
Even though I’m getting stronger, and no longer have to use a cane or walker, I had a friend from church drive me to my neurosurgeon’s office for him to look at my infected incision. It was a good choice considering how bad the roads were because of the storms. We left a half-hour early and still were thirty minutes late. I say all that just to say that I’m getting better at asking and accepting help.
He and his PA were like Dr. Pimple Popper draining the infection. They were surprised at how much puss came out.
My doctor was 50/50 on sending me back to the hospital to work on the infected incision. He decided to prescribe antibiotics, for me to change the bandage twice a day, refer me to a wound specialist, and come back and see him next week.
I miss my kids. It would be great to spend some time with them and give them a big hug.
I’ve lost so much weight I had to buy a new belt.
I wish I could find somebody to watch the TX/OU game with.
I’m doing what I can to focus on just making myself better.

I woke up in a wet bed yesterday morning. A lot of puss/fluid drained out of the surgery incision site on my back. I called the neurosurgeon’s office and they asked me to send pictures. That’s not the easiest thing to do, to take good-lit pictures of your back. The PA seemed pretty concerned and asked me to come in first thing in the morning and was calling in a prescription. And, as a precaution, do not drink or eat anything after midnight in the small chance they need to take me in for an even deeper look.
