  • I wasn’t a follower of his music, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I learned Joe Crocker was British.  I’m just going to chalk that one up to singers singing without an accent.
  • Somewhat related, I had no idea who Joe Jamail was until reading Barry’s blog and his hatred towards him over the years.  I’d see the name while watching Longhorn games, but just thought it was some rich Middle Eastern oil guy that attended UT and used the American name Joe.  Man, I was way off.
  • I saw a commercial in which the Leaning Tower of Pisa was the focus.  That reminded me of one of the Christopher Reeves Superman movies where he turned bad and made the tower perpendicular with the ground, ticking off the souvenir salesman in the foreground who was selling models of the tower with a lean.  Later in the movie, Superman turned good again and came back to the tower to put the lean back into the tower, once again upsetting the souvenir salesman who was now selling non-leaning models of the tower [YouTube].

It’s Monday, so start off with a nice pick me up

Yeah, I posted this song earlier, but the video below is how I first heard it which put a huge ‘ol smile on my face.

This is from the start of Craig Ferguson’s last show as host of the ‘Late Late Show’.  Maybe it’s because I was a bit emotional listening to Darlene Love’s last performance of ‘Baby Please Come Home’ on Letterman and this song immediately aired, but it’s now my new favorite song; and just seeing all the celebrity cameos is just icing on the cake.  Heck, if I were to die today, I’d want my funeral service to end with this song with the words projected on a screen so everyone could sing along and leave with some joy.

So do yourself a favor and crank the volume to eleven, pay attention to the lyrics, and play the video below.
