  • I didn’t pay a lot of attention to the story of King Richard III’s remains that were found underneath a parking lot, but the ‘CBS Evening News’ did a segment on it.  To test the DNA,  they found a relative who is now a carpenter.  That carpenter then made the coffin for the remains to go into for yesterday’s burial, or re-burial ceremony.
  • Senator Ted Cruz is not the owner of TedCruz.com.  To save you the trouble of going to the website, it’s owned by an Arizona attorney and this all it says – “SUPPORT PRESIDENT OBAMA. IMMIGRATION REFORM NOW! “.  Texas Monthly actually has a good breakdown of all the legitimate domain names Cruz should own but doesnt.

  • I caught the first ‘Late Late Show with James Corden’ that aired last night.  He seems really appreciative of the opportunity to host the show, and they had a cute “Golden Ticket” skit on how he got the show with a ton of celebrity cameos.  One prominent one was Jay Leno.  That means Leno was the last guest for the last host and appeared in a major part for the new host’s first show. . . for a rival network.  His guests walk down stairs high-fiving audience members.  The guests looked uncomfortable trying to pay attention to the crowd while not tripping down the stairs.  And while he has a desk, he chose to not use it and do a chair/couch interview with both guests at the same time.  It was also quite noticeable that he has a much larger budget than his predecessor.  Hopefully I can find the skit he did with Tom Hanks as they improved goofing on all his movie roles with a green screen.

Next Los Angeles NFL Team(s) May Have A Transparent Roof

clearroofnlfstadlas

The roof has metal borders, but the area over the playing field is made of a transparent material called ETFE, which is as clear as a car windshield and strong enough to support the weight of a vehicle. The design allows for breezes to flow through the building, enhancing the outdoor feel.

“This stadium grows out of the DNA of the region,” said Mark Williams, director of sports and entertainment business development for HKS, which designed AT&T Stadium for the Dallas Cowboys and Lucas Oil Stadium for the Indianapolis Colts.

  • I finally gave boiled peanuts a try.  Granted, they were in a can, and I warmed them up according to the instructions, but I’m not a fan.  Maybe if I had some freshly cooked from Georgia I’d like them better, but I doubt it.  According to this video, you are suppose to put them, shell and all, in your mouth, and eat them kinda like a sunflower seed.
  • While watching the Sixties ‘Batman’ show, it was revealed the Bruce Wayne’s great-great grandfather founded the Yale University secret society Skull and Bones.
  • We are members church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and after Sunday’s sermon, there was a quick meeting with the congregation to address the recent news  about the change in the wording of its constitution to allow gay and lesbian weddings within the church.  The members our church are overwhelmingly conservative and didn’t really have any concerns since the state of Texas doesn’t recognize that kind of marriage, so such a thing can’t happen yet.  And it seemed they were comforted when our pastor stated that even if it did become legal, he wouldn’t perform a ceremony that included like genders.  There was some small talk about moving to another denomination, but after talking about the financial problems that lead to a court appearance and a $7.8 million settlement over property ownership between PCUSA and Highland Park Presbyterian’s decision leave the denomination, things quieted down.  I’m still predicting that our church will leave in the next two years, for sure the next five.  Man, I loath church politics and denominational strife, it gets the church off their intended purpose.  Allow me to quote on Los Angelean profit, “Can we all just get along?”
  • I believe my pastor is honest about his stance on gay marriage, but part of me wonders if he had the opposite stance, how many members would leave our church and what kind of financial burden that would bring.  It’s just a guess, but I’d say the church would lose about 75% of its members and would close its doors in less than two years.
  • I’m actually surprised Senator Ted Cruz will actually run for president, I thought he was too smart to do such a thing, that he has greater influence without the restrictions of the White House.  Granted, I don’t see him getting close to his party’s nomination, and it will be interesting to see people in his own party attacking him, but I do like how he’s foregoing forming presidential exploratory committee.

  • I’m about six episodes in watching the original series of ‘Star Trek’.  So far it’s been real interesting. I think it turned me off as a kid because I was expecting more action and adventure stuff with great special effects, but now as an adult, I realize this show started two decades before Star Wars, so the special effects are understandably different; and ‘Star Trek’ isn’t about action or adventure, but more about thought provoking scenarios about humanity. I liken the first six I’ve watched to the Twilight Zone.
