- Katt Williams was trending last night. I knew the name, but really didn’t know anything about the comedian and sometimes actor, so I pulled up his Wiki page. I read that he had eight children, and automatically slotted him as a promiscuous man with a lot of baby mamas like Nick Cannon (12 and soon to be 13 kids with six women) or Shawn Kemp (seven children with six different women.). But then I read on and saw that of those eight children, seven were adopted. I then proceeded to eat some humble pie.
- I first heard the term “humble pie” during my junior year in high school. It was for a vocabulary test in Coach Jennings’s English class. That test also included the words “stoic” and “epitome.” Coach would always give an example of how to use the words in a sentence. For “stoic” he said, “Tom Landry was very stoic, he had an expressionless face.” I sat next to Charles Franklin. We used to make fun of Troy Aikman for not playing the complete season of his rookie year (which was four years earlier) because he broke a finger on his non-throwing hand. The Cowboys won only one game that year. It was against Washington. That’s right, Aikman didn’t win a single game in his first year. It’s funny the things you do and don’t remember.

https://twitter.com/JoePompliano/status/1742606064984428638 - Here’s a longer version of the video with audio. You can tell that one guy in the suit hasn’t thrown many punches in his life. It looks like he didn’t know what to do and was throwing punches because he knew he would never have an opportunity like that again. One thing is for sure, he tired out quickly and then just got out of the way.https://twitter.com/bagofnothing/status/1742702926550683686

- A Trump/Haley ticket just makes too much sense for it not to happen.
- Sometimes politicians flip-flop on an issue just to garner votes or make the most of an opportunity. I don’t think that’s what Christi is doing. There’s a lot I disagree with Christi about, but overall, I like him and wouldn’t mind if he became president. That’s certainly not going to happen anytime soon.

Bag of Randomness for Wednesday, January 3, 2024
- I’m disappointed with myself for forgetting to post this gem. Heck, I even had a tab open so I wouldn’t forget. Jason Whitlock is an insufferable media personality. For instance, last year he released a two-hour video questioning if Michelle Obama was transgender, and expressed a dislike of the Nineteenth Amendment stating that granting suffrage to women destroyed the principle of “one vote per household.” In his Twitter bio, this is how he describes himself:
“Christian. Growth requires Sacrifice. Ignorance, Perversion, Pride, Ingratitude & Cowardice thwart Sacrifice. Fearless”
On Monday, he makes the following post on TwitterX, morally judging ESPN for placing inappropriate sexual-related ads on their website. But what he failed to realize, and this is amazing considering he works in the industry, is that he gets ads based on his search history. Every now and then one of my readers will do the same and contact me. Some feel they are being kind by pointing out to me what I may not realize is displaying on my website. Others chew me out for placing those ads. As much as I like to engage with my readers, most of the time, I simply ignore them.
- Here’s something else I forgot to write about yesterday regarding Jimmy Johnson’s induction into the Cowboys Ring of Honor. One of my favorite players on his team was Kenny Gant. I liked him because we were similar in size, so that gave me a small bit of hope of making it in the NFL, and he did a “shark dance” before kickoff. It became a popular local bit, and even some foam shark hats were sold. Well, here is Gant on the field for Jimmy’s induction ceremony wearing one of those foam hats. Speaking of foam hats, I’ve always loved them, and wish they would make a comeback. Not that I would wear one, but I like seeing others wear them in the stands.

The First Bag of Randomness for 2024
- I very much wanted to make a post yesterday, but one thing after another popped up.
- Back in my day, adults would start the new year by accidentally writing the previous year on something called checks.
- Friendly reminder with the new year starting, there are many people trying to make adjustments to their lives. Let them. Let people show up to the gym, let people eat what they choose, let them succeed, let them fail, let them live their lives without your commentary.
- I sure hope 2024 is going to be a good year. It’s a leap year, so we have one extra day of suffering or thriving through it, and I’d much rather be thriving.
- At halftime of the Sugar Bowl, I thought the Longhorns stood a chance. Then, I checked Twitter and saw this:
This guy is such a cancer. It all started with his father helping to assassinate JFK.
- Also spotted at the Sugar Bowl.

- It’s interesting that the University of Texas’ greatest football head coach and current football head coach both were the head coach of Washington before their tenure at Texas.
- Maybe this will cheer up some Longhorn fans.

- I was impressed with Steve Sarkisian’s. There was a lot I assumed about the guy and was surprised I have a lot in common with the man. I did some research and found the following:
- Because he played QB at BYU, I thought he was Mormon. Nope, he’s always been Catholic.
- Cher’s (yes, that one, the only one I’m sure you know) maiden name is Sarkisian, but they aren’t related. I am also not related to Cher.
- I knew he battled alcoholism, but didn’t know one of the contributing factors that led to it was his divorce. There’s something I haven’t shared with y’all that I battled after my divorce.
- His children are half-Asian, as am I.
- He was married for 18 years, and the youngest of his three children was 12-years-old. I was married for 18 years and my two children were close to that age.
- He’s remarried to a woman of color. I’m, well, not remarried or dating, but I do know women of color.
AP's @RalphDRussoAP: "Was there ever a point where you thought this wouldn't be possible?"
Sark: "Yeah. Hell yeah, I did. Jeez. I was out of work. Couldn't get an interview…. We don't have to stay where we are in life."

The Last Bag of Randomness of 2023
- I had hopes that 2020 was going to be a better year for me than 2019. After it wasn’t, I had hopes for 2021. Then the same for 2022 and 2023. Come on, 2024, please don’t fail me.
- To my surprise, I’ve had a setback with my infected incision. I’ll know more next week, but it appears I’m going to have to go back in for some minor surgery. If you recall, this is all from my back surgery that happened in August.
- It’s hard not to root for Joe Flacco, especially if you hear how grateful he is when he speaks about this second chance.
- It’s gonna get a bit political.
- I agree with what Jody Dean had to say about Nikki Haley. She might not be a racist, but she most assuredly is a coward. And as Matthew Dowd said, this is what happens when you aren’t authentic and try to appease the white supremacists. Haley was governor of South Carolina, she calls it home. South Carolina was the first state to secede from the Union, and was one of the founding member states of the Confederacy, and stated at the time of secession that slavery was the reason.
https://twitter.com/crizteeneeta/status/1740482076980494714
- I have no idea if she really said this or not, but I saw it on Twitter and it made me laugh.
- Sarah Palin: “Nikki Haley was the victim of a democratic operative. I too was a victim when asked what books or newspapers I read.”
- I also found this on Twitter, which I felt applies to our country and the Civil War.
- Faulkner wrote “the past is never dead. It’s not even past.”
So true.
One generation from the touch of slavery in America. How casually we ignore the ripples from that atrocity as they move through time, space and most importantly, policy and law.
- Faulkner wrote “the past is never dead. It’s not even past.”
- Maine’s top election official has removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 primary ballot based on the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.” Well, let’s look at that 14th Amendment. But right quick, you know Conservative secretaries of state are going to do the same with Biden.
- “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.” — U.S. Constitution, Amendment XIV, § 3.
- Trump supporters will say he wasn’t found guilty of engaging in an insurrection. That’s true, you don’t need to be found guilty to violate the Amendment. But, I’d like to hear more discourse about the part I underlined. Is he guilty of giving aid or comfort to any insurrectionists?
- I’d also like to hear more about this argument: The peaceful transfer of power is written into the constitution, the cornerstone of our democracy in action. Trump refused to concede. Is that a disqualifying act against the Constitution after taking the oath of office in 2017?
- A theologian or Bible scholar our governor is not. But then again, he’s not much of a governor either.
- And to be fair, I’m not an expert on law or a theologian or Bible scholar. Biden isn’t a theologian or Bible scholar either, but he makes a far better point.
There’s an expression they say in church sometimes: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. https://t.co/bue8YxgtQh
