Bag of Randomness for Wednesday, January 3, 2024

  • I’m disappointed with myself for forgetting to post this gem. Heck, I even had a tab open so I wouldn’t forget. Jason Whitlock is an insufferable media personality. For instance, last year he released a two-hour video questioning if Michelle Obama was transgender, and  expressed a dislike of the Nineteenth Amendment stating that granting suffrage to women destroyed the principle of “one vote per household.” In his Twitter bio, this is how he describes himself:

“Christian. Growth requires Sacrifice. Ignorance, Perversion, Pride, Ingratitude & Cowardice thwart Sacrifice. Fearless”

On Monday, he makes the following post on TwitterX, morally judging ESPN for placing inappropriate sexual-related ads on their website. But what he failed to realize, and this is amazing considering he works in the industry, is that he gets ads based on his search history. Every now and then one of my readers will do the same and contact me. Some feel they are being kind by pointing out to me what I may not realize is displaying on my website. Others chew me out for placing those ads. As much as I like to engage with my readers, most of the time, I simply ignore them.

  • Here’s something else I forgot to write about yesterday regarding Jimmy Johnson’s induction into the Cowboys Ring of Honor. One of my favorite players on his team was Kenny Gant. I liked him because we were similar in size, so that gave me a small bit of hope of making it in the NFL, and he did a “shark dance” before kickoff. It became a popular local bit, and even some foam shark hats were sold. Well, here is Gant on the field for Jimmy’s induction ceremony wearing one of those foam hats. Speaking of foam hats, I’ve always loved them, and wish they would make a comeback. Not that I would wear one, but I like seeing others wear them in the stands.

  • With the new year, a lot of new laws come into effect. Here’s a notable one I wish was standard across the nation – Illinois will withhold funding from schools and libraries that attempt to ban books. It’s the first state in the nation to enact such a law.

  • I was feeling a bit sympathetic for this college kid at first, but then I saw his user name, which made me think he was happy it happened and he’s benefitted greatly from it.

Maybe he can help console this kid since his favorite team is going to be playing against LSU a lot more often.
