- I received an odd fundraising letter from Hardin-Simmons this week, but perhaps it may be a more common practice used by other universities than I realize. It was from a person that only attended the university for one or two years and never graduated from the institution. She stated she transferred to an Ivy League school (can’t blame her) and then earn her MBA from one of our state universities and now feels compelled to “give back” to HSU. To me, it’s a bit odd to highlight someone who transferred from the school and use her as an example to give money to the school. Maybe the answer is simple, money talks.

- Why Are Bibles Printed With The Text in Two Columns Instead of One? – In part, this is simply tradition, as mentioned first being borrowed from the scrolls which the Biblical text was copied from. But there’s a little more to this formatting choice than just tradition. – You can add that reference guide books use two columns because it’s more practical for research and study and it also saves a few pages.
- Brewery reproduces beer dating back to time of Jesus – It says the concoction may help explain why wine was the preferred sacred drink of the Bible. There’s a hint of honey and berries in the cloudy – and flat – nectar, which has a three percent alcohol content.
