I bet it would shock all of you to know who I actually voted for. OK, that’s a bit strong, but I’m sure it would surprise you.
I wonder what kind of sleep Trump and Clinton, and all those running for office, must get the night before the election. Certainly, it’s not a very restful one.
In previous presidential elections, I was highly interested and checked sites like FiveThirtyEight religiously. This year, I was a Laodicean.
If I recall correctly, since Bush/Gore, the major news organizations have formally agreed to not formally call an election until a certain time, I think it’s 9:00 PM Central. But with most things, I’ve probably confused this with something else.
All the rain yesterday ruined some big plans I had today. One of my most loyal readers is in the entertainment business and invited WifeGeeding and me to take part in a television shoot which included some “out of the norm” but memorable outdoor activities. Our schedules are too tough to reschedule. Actually, the rain and mud isn’t really the issue, but they need “bright skies” to shoot.
That was the old Beck, he insists: “I did a lot of freaking out about Barack Obama.” But, he said, “Obama made me a better man.” He regrets calling the President a racist and counts himself a Black Lives Matter supporter. “There are things unique to the African-American experience that I cannot relate to,” he said. “I had to listen to them.”
The best current article on Tony Romo – Tony Romo Isn’t Going Anywhere – Inside the lost season of a Dallas Cowboys quarterback who refuses to fail—even if he did just lose the biggest job in football
As his back injury was announced – “I’ve gotta call Dak,” Romo said. Excusing himself, Romo slipped away and spent the next 15 minutes on the phone pumping up and offering advice to Dak Prescott, the rookie fourth-round draft pick who’d be thrust into the starting role as a result of Romo’s latest setback. While the gesture spoke volumes about Romo’s leadership, the phone call was no doubt difficult to make.
Broken collarbones, ribs and a pinkie finger. A herniated disc, a punctured lung and a bad back. Romo has dealt with countless injuries throughout his 14-year NFL career. But this one may have been the most deflating of all.
Romo’s dedication is evident each offseason, when he spends time around coaching legends such as Mike Krzyzewski and Larry Brown to pick up pointers on motivation and leadership. It’s obvious every Thursday during the fall, when Romo takes a handful of offensive starters to dinner at various ritzy Dallas steakhouses to build camaraderie.
Last month, on a weekday evening during Dallas’ bye week, Romo hosted a gathering at his new home for any member of the squad who remained in town. Some Cowboys shot hoops on Romo’s indoor basketball court while others played Ping-Pong or cards or teed off on his golf simulator. A catered meal from Nick & Sam’s, Romo’s favorite restaurant, featured steak, shrimp, lobster, chicken parmesan and numerous salads and sides.
Ouch – A Texas state trooper is under investigation after two Fort Worth women claim he got pliers to help remove piercings from their breasts and later injured one of them.
What the heck is going on at Baylor? So much crazy stuff happened with a promoted “greenout” announced back in June, then the team decided to wear black possibly in honor of Art Briles, odd tweets by players and the coaching staff (the interim head coach wasn’t included), fans deciding to wear black to support Briles, black shirts being sold outside the stadium to show support for Briles and then a flag flung outside a suite window at the stadium supporting Briles, and a player possibly shoved a coach. All in all, the ranked Baylor team got humiliated at home against an unranked 4-4 TCU team 62-22. What an embarrassing amount of events. And once again, Baylor starts off the year playing high school caliber teams and boast about their ranking only to eat humble pie when they start to play decent teams.
