WifeGeeding and I have several on-going debates here in GeedingManor. One of which is the correct pronunciation of the word syrup, but the most recent debate is whether or not to refrigerate the ketchup bottle. I say it should, but she disagrees because the bottle doesn’t tell you it must be refrigerated after opening (good point by the way), so I decided to make it one of my polls.
Here are the final results after 49 votes:
Only four of you out there do not keep the ketchup in the fridge, and I’m almost certain three of you are related to wifeGeeding.
But to counteract wifeGeeding’s point regarding that the ketchup bottle does not tell you to put the bottle in the fridge after opening, I decided to check out what the Heinz website had to say:
Should ketchup be refrigerated?
Because it is a very acidic product, ketchup does not spoil easily. Once opened, in order to maintain the product’s quality more effectively, we do suggest that ketchup (and any other processed food) be refrigerated after opening because refrigeration retards spoilage. Link
So enough about keeping ketchup cool, and hopefully wifeGeeding will come to her senses.
On a related ketchup note:
Here’s a link on how to pour ketchup, although I always heard to hold it at a 45 degree angle and to hit the 57 on the bottle.
