A kinder, gentler Army boot camp

i060909beetle.jpegWASHINGTON – Hollywood may have to tone down its portrayal of the military’s screaming, in-your-face boot camp drill sergeant. In today’s Army, shouting is out and a calmer approach to molding young minds is in, says the head of Pentagon personnel. The Army says it has reduced by nearly 7 percent the number of recruits who wash out in the first six to 12 months of military life.

Army of One – No More

Strength is the theme of the new U.S. Army campaign breaking Nov. 9 to replace the “Army of One” push. “There’s strong, and then there’s Army strong,” says a video from McCann Worldgroup explaining the new theme. “The strength to do good today. The strength to do well tomorrow. There is nothing on this green earth that is stronger than the U.S. Army.”Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey announced the campaign as part of a speech today at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting. The new campaign “speaks to an essential truth of being a soldier” and highlights the transformative powers of the Army, he said in a statement.

What Celebrity Do You Most Resemble? REVISITED

Back in December 2005, I uploaded a picture of myself with short hair (and probably 1-15 lbs lighter) to see what celebrities I most resembled, and these were my results:

56% Zbigniew Kazimierz Brzezinski
49% Shimon Peres
43% Serge Gainsbourg
41% Jackie Chan
38% Jerry Seinfeld
39% Albert Einstein
38% Mark Hamill
34% Martin Luther King Jr

So I decided to try it with an updated picture with long unmanaged hair, and here are the new results:
