- Somewhat related to the previous two bullet points, I often hear talk of putting a chip in a football so officials will know exactly where the football should be placed or if it goes past the goal line. I don’t think a “chip” is going to be the solution. What I think will happen is there will be sensors all over the field with the ball and uniforms made out of special material or some sort of coating which the sensors will be able to detect. The collaboration of the field sensors and material/coating will allow computers to place the ball correctly and tell exactly when a player’s knee was down.
