This website features my collection of vintage valentines. I acquired my first valentines fully intending to use them as tablecards at my wedding, but now I find it hard to imagine parting with these charming reminders of times gone by. I have posted some of my favorites here, and will continue to add to this online collection, so check back from time to time. I hope you will enjoy these valentines as much as I do.
Support groups for those grieving after the loss of a loved one, or caring for an ailing family member, are not unusual.
But recognizing the strong bond between people and their pets, members of North United Methodist Church go a step further, reaching out to those dealing with the illness or death of four-legged friends.
Bob Schultz came up with the idea for the ministry after seeing an upset pet owner at a local veterinary clinic.
“This young man was crying and so we were sitting there talking and said a little prayer,†he says. “And they just didn’t expect for his dog to live.â€
Soon after that meeting, the Pet Caretakers’ Ministry was launched, meeting once a month at the church. North United Methodist has also expanded its 24-hour prayer line (812-493-4487) to include prayers for pets and their owners.
Better View is is a series of perforated black out roller blinds designed by Finnish designer Elina Aalto of Fiasko Design. Light seeps in through the small cut out holes creating an image of a city by night. The cut-outs represent the light in the windows of apartment buildings and office complexes in the city. With the Better View blind any dreary view can be turned into an attractive cityscape.
Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud the soon-to-be owner of the first private Airbus A380 is sparing no expense to make his doubledecker toy the most fabulously extravagant jet on the planet. He spent over $300 million on the plane and is currently spending more than half that much money on customizing the jet. As we’ve mentioned before on this site, the jet will have a whirlpool bath and sauna, a dining room paneled in marble, a gym and a desert-themed fiber-optic mural. The most incredible touch might just be the approximately $58 million he is spending to have the plane painted in gold leaf on the outside.
